Oestrogen alone ?
« on: December 01, 2021, 05:52:03 PM »

Looking for a bit of advise please. I am post menopause and I was on femoston conti 1 /10mg but after 6 months I started getting really bad headaches, so I had a chat with GP and I’m going to try the patches. Now she has given me evorel 25, not conti, She told me I can have estrogen itself now and it was a low dose but I’m unsure if this is correct? I thought I also needed a progesterone every day? Would it be ok just to have oestrogen if it’s a low dose?

Do you have a womb?  If that is been removed, then you won't require progesterone.  MayB put the name of the product into the search box to see if anything pops up?  Make notes ;-)

Yes I have a womb, I have read everything on here and I’m 100 % sure I need progesterone too but GP was very sure she had read up and things had changed? Now don’t get me wrong I’m happy to take oestrogen only but without progesterone I could end up with thickening of womb lining?

Hi you need progesterone if you’ve still got your womb. x

U could end up with thickening.  Is there a longer regime that might work for you?

Your GP is downright dangerous. You could complain to your practice manager to prevent this happening to someone else who isn't aware she is wrong.

At the very least a scan should be arranged prior to any treatment.

You can take the Progesterone, cyclically, I use 100mg per day for 12 days I use it every other month, you should have follow up scans now and then. I wouldnt use it without a Progesterone of sorts no matter how low dose.
