So I talked with my BIL last night and my niece has chosen to stay home for a while longer before flying back to the UK. She doesn't feel it's a good idea right now.  With her work Visa, she can stay for up to 8 months if she wants. That's not likely she'll stay that long but at least she has the option.

I am so relieved C.C. - there's not much to do here currently .........  .  Your niece is safest there yet.  Can she work remotely?

Not really.  She works for a catering company and she is also an opera singer so both of her jobs are on hold right now.
