The usual summer flu is doing the rounds. Not true flu but a viral illness giving similar symptoms. Also norovirus is making an earlier appearance this year.

The app at least lets you know you have been near someone who might have infected you and isolation isn't mandatory so you could then tailor your meet-ups and socialising so as to put as few people at risk as possible. As a family we all have it activated and are wondering who will get pinged first!

I don't understand the belly laugh comment.

'cos we don't belly laugh much in these days of pandemic situations ?

I've never heard of summer 'flu.  Had colds during the hotter months ........ my bouts of 'flu were in March 1988 and 1989.  DH had 'flu in December 1992.  How can norovirus be around as we are all supposed 2 B keeping our distances.

Ah I see! Yes we need to do more laughing.

It's not real flu but a virus which mimics most of the symptoms but isn't as serious. After working in primary schools for the last twenty years plus parenting three children who loved passing the viruses amongst themselves (and me) I know my viruses  ;D

Norovirus has mainly been confined to the nursery and early years settings but is now spreading into the community as we open up more and those working with children who go down with it then take it back to their families. I think that not everybody knows it's not killed by hand gels and that you definitely need to keep up with soap and water handwashing. There's advice on the Gov.Uk site.

I feel sad when I look at past times in the pub or at a dance and shouting laughing, belly laughs, CLKD, dunno if we will ever do this again, jabbed or not  :'(

I've just been watching the videos of the youngsters in the nightclubs. So great to see them enjoying themselves again but difficult for me to shake off the fear of being ill. We all have individual choice as to how to spend our leisure time in ways that we are comfortable with but, sadly, not such a choice workwise.

I think the sensible way is NOT to rush back to 'normal'.  Let the +iv figures stabilise ?  I don't think that 'they' have been completely honest and have manipulated the public by fear.  Youngsters have no sense of time .......... if U can remember that far back  ;)

Terrific news about the fall in cases, the last few days.

Let's hope it continues.  🤞😀

It's probably a hiatus until the test results arrive from F1 and 'Latitude Festival' ..........

It would be useful to see the ratio of positive to negative tests. It might be that fewer tests are being done as schools break up and people go on leave.

Apparently, testing down 5% and positive tests results down 40% .

Sounds good to me.

All lateral flow testing have to be reported on line ....... it is a legal requirement so that statistics can be formed to follow the outbreaks.

We sent our negative tests in but didn't get a response.  Hopefully someone read and noted them ;-).

You should have had an email or text message confirming your negative result. You would have been given the choice of which way you wanted to receive this when registering your result. Lots of people just show the confirmation on their phone of course. I print mine off as it's easier to show when I visit my friend in her care home.

Never had a beep or anything  ::).  Not particularly worried as we were negative.  However ...... all the monies it has taken to set up these various tests!

There will be another fall and omicron isn't as 'bad' apparently - 'like a cold'.  That's from 3 friends who have caught it in recent weeks.  They have no underlying conditions.
