Itchy eyelids driving me mad 😠
« on: December 28, 2020, 12:14:20 PM »

Can anyone recommend anything for itchy eyelids? They’ve been driving me mad for months and it’s got to a point where they’re red, sore and very dry.

I’ve tried lots of different creams for eczema as that’s what I thought it was but that doesn’t help at all, I’ve tried creams for dermatitis and psoriasis as I have those sometimes on my face but they didn’t help either. I feel like I’m now damaging the skin as they itch so much. Don’t really want to go to the doctors but will if all else fails! Just wondered if anyone had found something that worked for them?

Eye drops.  Ask your local Pharamacist.  It's like I have critters running round the lashes  >:(  ::).  Worse last thing at night, probably due to computer use.

Boil some water with salt, allow cool and apply with cotton wool pads or a clean flannel.  Lay on the bed and put on your eyes.  Doze.  Several times a day.

It’s the skin on the outside of my eyelids rather than inside. I already use eye drops for dry eyes. Nothing seems to help ☹️

Try the boiled water pads followed by something simply like a layer of 'vaseline' or 'savlon'?

Hi KAH, do you have any idea of what might be causing it?

No, I thought it was quite common in meno/peri?

Not for me. Have a look at this article, maybe it's an allergy. https://www.reviewofophthalmology.com/article/solving-the-mystery-of-the-itchy-eyelid

My eye balls and edges of the eyes itch sometimes.

Hello KAH.

I think there is a condition called Blepharitis that may be the cause of your problems. I realise that seeing a doctor atm is difficult but at least you will have a diagnosis and appropriate treatment.  My GPs can be contacted by email and photos can be sent so perhaps ring your surgery and ask if that is possible.

Hope this helps in some way and take care.

Eyelids become very pink with blepharitis.  Eye lashes often fail to grow until appropriate cream is applied.  Is there a Pharmacist locally?

Thanks ladies. I’ll give the Child’s Farm moisturiser a try first and if it doesn’t help I guess it’s a trip to my GP. I did look up blepharitis and mine too are not that bad, they are a bit pink but mostly just SO itchy 😬
