Went down to London last Sunday, straight after playing for the morning's service. Going for the 1.30pm train. Took the bus from near the church, into town. Had about 40 minutes to kill, so went into M&S to get some tights. Didn't get any sandwiches in there, because I wanted to get something from the station. Came out of M&S and walked down into the station. It was just after 12.55. Thought I'd get my ticket out and check which number my seat was.
Saw I was booked on the 1pm train, not the 1.30pm!!! Did my impersonation of a Bat Out of Hell, ran one to one platform, then another and eventually got the right one. Zoomed right down the platform and just made it into the carriage B, as the guard was blowing his whistle. Found my seat and sat down, sweating and huffing and puffing. Couldn't get my planned station sandwiches, that's for sure, so got some rather unexciting ones from the train trolley, half an hour later......................Well, at least I'd had plenty of time after the service and then a nice relaxed stroll through town!..............................
