Anyone know of anything natural to regulate hormones?
« on: November 19, 2020, 08:51:17 AM »

Hello out there :O)
Don't suppose anyone knows if there is anything natural you can take to regulate these flippin cursed hormones? I am suffering from nausea and obviously fluctuating oestrogen/cortisol - ruddy nightmare all round. I'd just like to feel almost normal again!
Hugs to everyone x

Thank you for your reply. To be honest I'm really not sure? I am 63 and I think post menopausal (no one I can talk to - no female relatives alive- thats why this Forum is a godsend). I had my last period when I was 59, and my periods have always, always been erratic and irregular, but 4 years later after having no symptoms I seem to have them such as nausea, bit jittery, digestive issues, anxiety issues, sleeping is okay when I use Dormesan - so I'm assuming that as I am 63 that my hormones/oestrogen etc are fluctuating wildly and what I can take in a natural product(s) to help the situation.
Thanks for any advice x

Hi menopausal always - if you are 63 you are most definitely post-menopausal and the absence of periods together with your age is the guide.

Your hormones ( ie oestrogen) are not fluctuating wildly at all. They will have settled at their lowish level by now.

Therefore if you are having those symptoms and they are bothering you I suggest you have a trip to the doc eg re nausea and digestive issues. It could be that other endocrine systems are going awry eg thyroid function.

You cannot regulate hormones with anything other than hormones although we all need to make sure we are not deficient in any nutrients. However there are "natural" ways of relieving anxiety etc but firstly perhaps take a look at your diet and specifically the amount/type of carbs/.sugar you are eating as fluctuations in blood sugar caused by diet can wreak havoc and cause anxiety as a result (due to impact on insulin levels).

I would suggest you do not need an FSH blood test to determine menopausal status and no doctor would suggest one - as Birdy says  - being without periods ofr a year (or more) is the determining factor - together with your age.

Hope this helps and do ask if you have any further questions.

Morning.  Menopause literally means last monthly period, but we can't know until at least 12 months after the last bleed.  Peri menopause leading to the last period is natural.  Oestrogen levels drop but as suggested, this may affect other hormones which can cause their own symptoms.

Browse round.  You are in good company.

As oestrogen levels drop the body may become dry inside and out: skin, scalp, eyes, deep in the ears, vagina ........ we have threads about most symptoms.  Also muscles may become lax = aches and pains.  Do read the threads about 'bladder issues' and 'vaginal atrophy'.
