Hysteroscopy referral waiting times
« on: January 18, 2021, 09:24:52 AM »

Hi ladies

I've posted a few times due to feeling low and anxiety. Just a quick question, has anyone else waited 3-4 months for a hysteroscopy following referral after a scan? I know up to 18 weeks is usual for non urgent referrals but when a polyp is suspected is this still the case? I know we are living in strange times. Would just be interested to hear others' experiences

My NHS one came through within two weeks of the GP making the referral but I had already been seen privately and was flagged for possible pre-cancerous cell changes (atypical hyperplasia).

Do ring the dept to see what their waiting times might be, if they are involved with C-19 they may well pass on referrals to other sites.  Or get your GP Surgery to chase this?

Hi ladies, I do have an appointment in 3 weeks. I was referred non urgently back in October but just wondered if others had waited 3 months with a suspected polyp.

I would say that sounds about right considering what the hospitals are having to deal with at the moment.
When you had the scan back in October did they say when you might get called in for the hysteroscopy? They must have thought it's nothing too much to worry about else they would have got you in a lot sooner.
I'm sure it'll be ok.
Let us know how it goes.

Pricey my referral appointment came in under two weeks, had the hysteroscopy last Thursday and received a letter on Saturday to go back on the 19th March to have the polyp removed.

Skkb,

I was referred non urgently so I guess it depends on the waiting list in each area. When I booked online there were no appointments at either hospital. I had to wait for a letter. The plan is the polyp will removed there and then hopefully, so I guess this is similar to you waiting until March. Is there a reason why this wasn't done at the initial hysteroscopy?

Thanks for sharing.

Cazikins,

The outcome wasn't discussed at the scan.  I had to wait for the GP to review the findings. She was clear she wasn't worried and did say she thought the list was moving reasonably well, but I suppose must have been aware it could conceivably be up to 18 weeks?

I'm recovering from Covid so overthinking and catastrophising.
