Should I increase oestrogel or try something else?
« on: October 25, 2020, 08:55:58 AM »

I’ve been on the oestrogel/ utrogestan combo for nearly a year. I am 53( just) and it has been ok- ish.
Initially / pumps of gel stopped the night sweats ( mostly) but now they are back with a vengeance.
I guess I should go up to three pumps? I’ve tried 2.5 for a week but no change?
Is this because my own oestrogen  levels are dropping further?
Should I ask the GP to try a different form of oestrogen? The sachets are better I’ve heard?
Many thanks/ feeling  miserable and very tired. 😩

It's normal to need more oestrogen as your ovaries pack up. I started on 2 pumps in peri, now I need 4 to control my symptoms (late peri/meno). I would increase to 3.

I’ve started on 2 pumps but my doctor said I can go up to 4 pumps to relieve symptoms if I need to. X

I went to three pumps yesterday morning and last night wasn't quite so bad flush-wise. I could feel them coming on but they didn't last as long and weren't as intense. Hopefully improvements will continue over time.
I feel a bit sad that I have to go up a dose. I know it's completely natural that my own hormones are packing up, but still.
