Groin pain
« on: October 09, 2020, 07:20:48 PM »

I get funny pains around my pubis area, mainly at the sides, but below what is classed as the actual groin. I know general aches and pains of muscles, joints & tendons is normal in peri but this just seems a very weird place. It’s sort of on my knicker line - not soreness in the skin but more like an ache inside. It’s not swollen lymph nodes as it’s not high enough up in the groin and I can’t feel any lumps at all. Any ideas?

Psoas (soass) muscle, I had this pain years ago so bad I was off work, reoccured recently & Osteopath told me that's what it is (I'd never heard of it). I was fobbed off years ago following xrays, nhs physio, strong painkillers etc, it can be excruciating at times. She has given me two exercises (it is in my left groin), lie on your back, bend my left knee, keep right one straight, as your knee is bent let it go out to the side and back up again x3 then slide your leg down so it's flat and slide it back up again, repeat this x5. The exercise she gave me this week is again on your back right knee bent this time, left leg hanging off side of the bed rotate your leg x10 one way then x10 the other, most painful for me when I do it clockwise. It's a really deep pain, makes me waddle when it flares up, recommended to use either hot/cold pack on it to help reduce the pain, also taking diclofenac and paracetamol befor ebed as that is when it is particularly bad. Hope you get some relief Paz23. x

Wow thanks. No I’ve never heard of that either. It’s not bad enough to need pain killers, I kind of just put up with it. It comes and goes but plays havoc with my health anxiety. I’ll try the exercises thank you x

You want to nip it in the bud Paz23 otherwise it can be really painful & debilitating, it's about trying to stretch out the muscle. x

I think it’s time I did some exercise. I hate exercise but if I don’t do some my aches and pains are only going to get worse. I was going to start Pilates too before all the Covid crap started. I need to give myself a kick up the bum!

;) ;D. I had started pilates almost 2 years ago, but since classes stopped I've taken up cycling again which I'm really enjoying. It's hard to get motivated, especially in the winter but it's about finding something you enjoy & works for you. x

I highly recommend Pilates, I started doing classes 7 years ago. After my doctor recommended me to do so. She said “Lyn if you have a strong core you will have a strong back”. Did them for six months, now I just do it myself at home.

Every single morning I wake up and do 15 minutes of Pilates. I mainly do core exercises. Before I started Pilates I had bad back pain every single day for about a good year. Before I started Pilates I slipped my disk and could hardly walk for a month.

It takes a while to build up your strength it won’t happen over night, but give it a month and you will definitely see the difference.

Best thing I’d ever done :)

I would but with all the Covid restrictions at the moment I think joining a class is a non starter. I’d try it myself on YouTube but if I do it wrong I’ll just end up injuring myself and have worse aches & pains. I think I’m going to start by going for more walks. Just need to find someone to come with me. I hate doing stuff on my own.

I agree a class is better then YouTube. Early December  last year started doing extra exercises on YouTube, big mistake.
Seriously hurt my ribs. Spent Christmas on holiday in a lot of pain.
