Oestrogel patches plus gel
« on: September 30, 2020, 06:55:53 AM »

Hello Ladies,

Needing advice on whether you can add gel while on the patches?
Want to know if I am too high or too low.
I have been taking oestrogel for around 10 months with ugestrogen and Zoladex. Had tah/bso 12 weeks ago and felt like my symptoms were beginning to return. Had op follow up with menopause doctor and she said try patch, i am now on evorel 50 but migraines are pretty bad feel pretty crappy. She has given me testosterone and told to try after 4 weeks but just wondering I can add a pump of Oestrogel to see if I need a higher or lower patch.

Thanks

If you've had TAH/BSO very recently your body will still be adjusting but also yes its fine to take patches and gel at the same time. You don't need a progestogen which makes it much easier. These deliver oestrogen in different ways and in fact I have read (on here) of some consultants prescribing both whein cases where women are encountering difficulty in absorbing form one way alone.

50 mcg is not a very  high dose at all. It is the standard post-menopause dose for a woman still with ovaries. I mean really i would want to go to a higher dose patch first but if you have some gel then why not try it - do mention to your doc though. Have you started the T yet? I would want to increase oestrogen before adding T to the mix, personally, especially as you don't know how much you are absorbing. Are you getting sweats and flushes returning?

Hope you see an improvement soon.
