HRT Issues - struggling to find the one
« on: August 25, 2020, 08:10:27 AM »

I’m struggling to find an HRT fit.  Doc put me on Progynova, 3mg a day as I need that amount, and it helped with my symptoms, but gave me horrible anxiety.
So I recently swapped to estrogel, and now I’m reverting to waking up for several hours a night and night sweats.  Also headaches, which is one of my low estro indicators. I’m guessing it’s not absorbing or just may not work for me?
So if I switch to a patch, will I get the same issues, as it’s trans dermal, or are there any other oral pills that don’t cause anxiety, although I suspect that’s because it’s going through my liver?
Doc did say she could put me on meds for the anxiety, but I hate this culture we have of,  oh side effects on meds, here have more medication with different side effects! So would rather not burden my body & liver more.
Help and advice please….

hi Dotty, so 4 pumps a day, spilt between am and pm now as i was worried that 4 in go would saturate.  By my maths, 4 equals 3mg.  does it lose any efficacy this way?

Well thanks for responding,  as i shall now look up your posts for info.
It's crazy, mine is a year now, as i was forced to come off BC which was sorting me out. Maybe that's the next thing, not use all the decent bio stuff and get synthetic versions to try.
I've paid to go privately and no more, as every time you have a query it costs and tbh, a lot of the Gyne's have either strict views or don't know themselves.  I've learnt more on here & google, and now just ask the GP for variants to try. ;)

I had phone call with GP today re the same. Been on HRT since a year last March, gradually increasing the dose and various patches due to shortages. Been on Progynova TS 100 patch for 4 months now (also take 5mg Provera daily) had no period for 6 months, now had one last two plus one's in between. Increased migraines, reflux been really bad this last month and almost constant stomach cramps most nights, lying with hot pack on my belly.
GP phoning me back tomorrow, he is going to discuss with the surgery pharmacist!
I feel so much better than I did but never hit that sweet spot and room for improvement definately, especially sleep. Hope you Ladies find a solution that's right for you. xx

Been referred to menopause clinic. Unsure how long before I get an appointment & whether it will be virtual or face to face but relieved, just need to carry on as is for now! x
