Silent migraines were my first menopause symptom in 2004 closely followed by horrendous sweating. I have never had hot flushes or night sweats but one day my thermostat literally stopped working and I found myself breaking into a sweat in situations where I would not have done previously. Even certain lights bulbs and glass ceilings in shopping centres would kick it off - a real telltale sign is sweating in airconditioning.
I very quickly learnt that there is a world of difference between menopausal sweating and normal, temperature related sweating that everyone experiences.
The only solution is HRT and in my particular case, lots of it. Initially I needed 3 pumps of Oestrogel to control the sweats but now I'm 59 and (very) post menopause, 1 pump of gel is just as good.
By the way, there in no time limit on HRT, you can take it for life.
