Advice re bleed
« on: August 06, 2020, 01:19:42 PM »

Hi all
I posted before but had no response so thought id try again as more has happened. I had mirena coils for approx 15yrs and had the last one removed last Nov as I'm 56 I was told I wouldnt need it anymore. I have had no real menopausal symptoms or any tests to confirm meno.
I had a heavy bleed 3 wks after removal which is normal and then early June this yr I had another small bleed and was referred to gynae.
Had hysteroscopy and 2 scans, I had a small polyp removed and slight thickening of the womb - results came  back 4 wks later stating all ok.
Lo & behold that very afternoon (july 18) I start to bleed again - the first wk I was on and off then last tues day it got heavier - rang Gp this Monday who said it could be an infection from hysteroscopy even though 5 wks later (?) & gave me antibiotics to try. That evening I had an even heavier bleed (flooding/small clots) and felt drained - from then it's been much lighter. I started the antibiotics Tuesday (co-amoxiclav) & booked in for blood tests. Just wondering if anyone else has had anything similar or knows more about this type of thing. I can see there are a lot of very knowledgeable women on here who have many different experiences.  :)

I can't believe you have had no replies! I haven't had your experience, but I did have a hysteroscopy yesterday. I hope your infection has cleared up and that you are doing well now:)

Are you sure you are post menopausal? I was 59 when I had my last period and the consultant I saw said late menopause happens more than you would imagine.Have you had a blood test to check to see where you are in meno- I know the results vary from day to day but my consultant said that he can recognise post menopausal ladies from the figures to give them a definite answer.
Could be something to consider if the antibiotics don't sort this. x
