For years we have had chickens wandering about the village and last year one of them took a fancy to my garden and raised four chicks there,1 cockerel and 3 little ladies  . This year, she appears to have announced to her mates that my maternity unit is an ok place to raise your brood and i have now got a garden full of the bleedin' things. As of this morning there are 3 hens and 13 chicks  :o

 ;D

I have an oven, heated after making bread - any help?

Interesting that out of 4 there was 1 cock, usually it's 85% cocks in each brood.  Any interesting coloured feathers, if so contact the local trout lakes as they are lovely for fly tying ;-).

Obviously you don't have foxes or badgers!

Sunflower hearts are too expensive for crows to eat 4 feeders worth in 2 minutes, now it's Mr mole we've to conquer   ;D

I am trying to convince my Dad that he needs a few more added to his flock, but he isn't convinced. I might get one of the children to ring and persuade him.  ;)

I was out yesterday.  As soon as I put foot in our kitchen, the male blackbird was looking at me from the pergola  :o - so I went out and fed him meal worms for his fledglings.

Hedgehog seen on night camera  :-* pottering around near to the box.  In a few days we will lift the lid to see if it's still using the box ......

How are those chickens Barnacle?  Do they roost in trees?

I don't know where they roost, CLKD There is wood at the back of me and they appear from that area, but where they actually go at night, i'm not sure. My little Cockerpoo loves anything with feathers, so it gets a little tricky at times, but so far they are all thriving. Even DH has took a shine to them.

That's what cockers do and add a poodle into the mix and you've got 2 gun dogs ;-)

A couple of nights ago the hog was seen pottering around the winter box ........ last night the hog came 2 the door of box for a snuffle into the air B4 going back indoors. Then out, then in ....... so our hog is still in the box, that's 2 then  8)

I've watched the night video, the hog in/out of the box took 6 hours B4 he/she stepped out  ;D.  Wonder whether he/she will be any quicker next time.

They love empty boxes ........ apparently there mayB bugs/lice left behind in old nesting material which will discourage them, no one likes bugs in their beds after all  :D.  I can spend hours watching our birds  :whist:  in case 1 decides to go into the box and stay .

I love watching them. I was sitting on my garden furniture just watching them come to the feeder, go and come back time again. So beautiful
