Don't need Spring Watch - we have it here, in our garden. That'll be a fiver on the gate then  :D

Sparrows are rare due to fields being constantly cultivated without laying fallow when birds of all types would have 'gleaned' any left over grain etc.  Add to that Councils allowing builders to net hedgerows [though I see the Government is going to debate this] so that birds are unable to nest.  Add to that farming practices altering due to fields being built over.  I could go on .......

We had two hedgehogs arguing on camera last night  ;D - one pushed the other hard ..........

I'm sure springwatch is on to the last week of May. Lots of controversy with Chris Packham he was due to talk in a local show but has cancelled after more threats  :-\

Yes I know. That's why I was worried when there was no date on the website.

Hope they don't cancel that too.

We have everything but, such a shame, even had a woodpecker making a racket on the telegraph pole, got a sore head just watching him :o

I haven't seen a sparrow for years😢 they were abundant when I lived in Aberdeen but here in Wiltshire I never see them AND we're rural, does anyone know why that would be?plenty of the tit family, wagtails and swifts but that's it as far as little birds go

Do you put any food out for them? We have a flock of around 20 on the feeders.

I feed birds all year round.  This morning it was 8 jackdaws, 3 magpies, a few sparrows, a robin - 3 blue tits.  Could hear blackbirds arguing.

So take that away unless pigeons clear up underneath?  I need to re-fill the sunflower hearts for the gold finches, pigeons and blackbird get underneath so there's little waste really.  Not eating many nuts right now  :-\

I now get a seed mix delivered by a mill that contains sunflower hearts and there is hardly any waste, I was buying from a local place but there was so much millet and so much wasted x

We had a woodpecker who liked pecking our sky dish daft thing 😂 x

Oh not paid by WhatsApp to discover what you watch  :D

Birds are singing
Blue tits are feeding young close by, picking up a single meal worm, flying into a tree to bash it's guts out then flying to the nest box
Neighbours' cat is eating grass at my feet - hope he doesn't puke  :o

My husband went off bright and early this morning.  As a volunteer for the local Wild Life Trust, he is helping repair the damage to the verge, on Bluebell Hill, where the rare orchids were driven over repeatedly, by contractors, for Operation Brock.

You will be pleased to know that the council,  who caused the damage, are footing the bill.

That's wonderful TH.  I think the Blackbird song is my favourite.  We have one that sits on our roof, in the afternoon, and sings for ages.
