HOles were made in the ice and buckets put over the top, will be interesting to see whether it's kept the worst of the freezing temperatures off long enough to keep the holes there otherwise, out with kettle of hot water again in the morning  :o

My bird bath was less frozen this morning, only took 1 kettle of hot water to thaw it! Then blackbirds, robin and sparrows all had a drink and a bath, they were queueing up!

Only needed to fill the birds' baths once today ....... livemeal wormsarrived yesterday so they have plenty to keep them going ....

I think they graze.  Now that more people feed wild birds in their gardens there ismore choice!  The ones here seem to feed at certain times of the day, mid-afternoon there is a lull and if I've put fresh water out they will queue up for a bath before a final visit to the feeders at dusk.

Stunning!  I've been across country this morning and the fog has cleared leaving a Wonderland of frosted trees, shrubs, hog-weed etc.  :-*

You're right, CKLD, what a wonderful sight the trees are today, I don't think I've ever seen such stunning hoar frost, sparkling in the sunshine. Mind you, it was still -8 here when I came in from shopping half an hour ago, and I can't get the bird bath thawed today! I'll keep trying though!

Met Hubby with the camera bag so that he could take some photos in his lunch break  :-* ... it's beginning to drip and where it falls it will freeze at dusk and the roads will be treacherous again  >:(

Pity those stuck on the M8 - still  :-\
