Interesting! You don't know why i fell out with the stud dogs owner. Tee hee. Joke. I'm sure it would be against the law, not sure what you would get charged with. Um......

Would David Attenborough have been there with a camera crew? ::)

Even dogs which have been sold to a waiting list can end up in rescue.  Sadly not many breeders bother to keep trace of the pups that leave their establishments, often it is difficult to do so anyway.  With all the best Will in the World ........

Darkness has arrived and with it tiredness, Hubby has had a doze after tea and I'm nodding gently ...... may be able to stay awake for the programme about tigers later this evening

By the time you last posted i was in bed, that's twice this week. SLEEPING. All our pups owners keep in touch, they all send xmas cards, we send birthday/xmas cards. They were born Dec 27th.
Also the new owners have a contract which stops them putting the dog into rescue or selling on. I undertake to take the dog back if there are any probs. Eddie. x

Oh Christmas babies  :-* ........ like me  ;)

Unless the 'contract' is made via a Solicitor sadly it means very little.  There is nothing to stop new owners by-passing it.  At least your owners keep in touch!  My friend has a new pup [now 8 months old] and she meets with his litter mates every 4 months to compare notes. They exchange photos too.  But the breeder, although having 'contracts', 'lost' one of the previous litter which was dumped into a rescue centre, fortunately hers are chipped so it eventually got back to her.  But under the Data Protection Act no one has to tell a person if a pet is chipped and who that chip is registered to!

Our wild birds are singing in the rain today  ::) - off to feed the quail

Its quite sad really, my wee girl (dog), had the most beautiful litter of puppies as stated and pictured, we've received numerous requests for puppies from the original owners recommendations, we waited the correct time (two seasons) and approached the same stud dog owner, who was more than happy to arrange mating, on the day of mating she had a different dog from the original one, and the original one was the one we wanted to use, this new one had just been returned from Norway i think, after extensive breeding, she now wanted to prove him here, so we agreed to use him, the mating went well, we returned two days later as standard, had second mating. All fine.
Our wee girls seemed just like before all the way through, 63 days came, i had been sleeping on the sofa with her in her whelping box, all very exciting, day 65 (two days over), nothing, joined a breeders forum, was told to get vet, i had already visited vet who thought she was pregnant and still had days to go. So back to vet, who did xray and saw pups. Sent me home with her again, back to forum, everybody went mad, get to vets now, blah blah blah. So back to vets for emergency c -section, the pups had died at 4 weeks and her womb was full of poison, i was lucky to have her. Apparently a virus was to blame which can pass over at time of mating. Breeder was very "caring" immediately said her dog was fine. So the advice i got from experienced breeders was to mate her again next season, this prevents scarring? So we patiently waited, then contacted breeder, she wanted full stud fee again, this is not the standard, usually if there are no live puppies then a charge for mating will not apply.
It cost me well over £1000 for mating, xrays, c-section and meds. So i don't do this for money, but also won't be bullied on it either. Hope this makes sense. Eddie. x

Yep its' a common problem.  All Stud dogs should have a recent Vet Cert to say they are clean.  Bit like humans really.  I know a breeder who won't use her Dog on any bitch until the bitch has been seen by her Vet. for which she pays.

Sad but the dog breeding World is full of money grabbers ........ and the KC still do little to stop all this happening  :'(

I've filled up the wild bird feeders this morning as we had blue tits everywhere  :-*

One of our Chickens, "Ginger Rogers" has had to visit the Vet.  She has an absess between her toes/claws, on the ball of the foot so to speak.  37 Euro's later and 6 doses of antibiotics have not cleared it completely so it looks like another visit tomorrow.  The swelling is still there so I'm expecting that an op will be needed - I dread to think what that will cost.  OH said he could have bought 6 new chickens with what it cost for a-b's !!  He's all heart.

Bumble-foot?  There is a powder to treat that in the UK ....... caused  by asmall crack in the underside of the 'pad' which gets infected.

http://www.poultry.allotment.org.uk/Chicken_a/bumblefoot-chickens.php    My Chaffinches have got this - not nice to see. Two of them have lost a foot each and funnily enough one has lost the right and one the left so they make a perfect pair if they stand together on the apple tree branch.

Something tried to get into the quails yesterday whilst we were away so will have to re-inforce their space before we go off again.  >:(
