After 3 weeks of holidaying in the US- I'm back  :)
Raring to get on my new bike ladies ;)
Thanks for the PM Bramble unfortunately I missed out at Lidl - will watch out for other bargains though.

Great trip back from Phoenix today - bit chilly here though, the spa at the hotel last night was SO hot, hubby and I could not get in it!! We bought some Lindt chocolate and strawberries and out the chocolate outside in the sun and it melted in 4 minutes so we dipped the strawberries  ;D ;D ;D

I think I really have gone back to my childhood with the meno :drunklaf: :drunklaf:

House was still standing when we got back and was so relieved to see it as it was the first time we had left our 18 year old daughter on her own in the house..... I'm sure a few parties did go on - but nothing too bad and the cleaning up was good. neighbour did complain about the music though and said he had heard it 5 times in total  ::) ::)
Oh, to be young and carefree again ???

Hi Rebecca,
Glad to see you back and that you had a great holiday (and that the house was still standing!). Looking forward now to hearing about your new bike!

Still pedalling away CLKD but it does not seem to be getting any easier! However I am doing 20 mile rides now when I was taking a week to do 20 miles when I started so something must be happening! Doing 45-50 miles every week - out on my bike 3-4 times a week. Hoping to crack the 500 mile mark by the end of August and then head for the 1000 mile mark before Christmas but this is very weather dependent! Alright if it is a dry autumn but if wet and/or windy then it's a no-no.

Well done Bramble keep going, you are nearly at the 500 mile mark. You put me to shame, I have been out a few times on my new bike and I am embarassed to say that the most miles I have done is 15. Iam now feeling very bad that I did not do more cycling and Autumn will be on us very soon. I am thinking of fitting a pannier to my bike to put some shopping in, this may encourage me to ride more.

I am also looking to buy a bike carrier for the car so I can drive somewhere different to cycle.
You must have lost weight now Bramble  ::)

When we lived in Wales in the 1980s a lady had two dachsunds which rode in the front bicycle carrier, I saw her this Summer and she had a dachsund at her heels, don't know if she still rides the bike though ..... she used to peddle with apparent ease round the town  ::)

I have a basket on the front of my bike, it's a Pashley Princess, a proper 'old fashioned' bike, it's beautiful  :)
My husband bought it for me for christmas about 11 years ago, i wasn't allowed to have a bike when I was young, so it was my first  :)
I am too frightened of the traffic round here, about 3 years ago I worked 2 miles from home & started to cycle to work & back (& at lunchtime) in the summer, but one morning a woman overtook me on a slight bend & actually brushed my arm with her car, I was a wreck by the time I got to work & haven't been on it since
:(
I am so angry with the woman, she only had to wait about 5 seconds to get around the bend  >:(
What makes it worse is she had probably just done her school run, because she turned into the housing estate!

Is there somewhere more quiet that you could cycle?  We put the bikes into the Volvo estate and drive to safer areas: not just safe from cars but so that I don't run into anyone myself!   ::)  if I meet anyone on the paths I shout 'new bike one careful owner' and people soon shift  :P

i used to live in a village when I first got the bike CLKD & there were miles of 'safe' roads  :)
I used to cycle about 14 miles twice a week.
Not sure if I could persuade my husband to go anywhere to cycle, he also goes much faster than me!!
Don't have any friends around here that cycle.
Will have to give it some thought  :)
