That's dreadful, hope she makes full recovery.  My husband has cycled all his life, got the tshirt and the broken bones to prove it.  Now it's become so popular he reckons lots of riders just think they can hop on a bike and cycle , they have no idea about road etiquette or worse, road safety !

Obviously this is in total contrast to the professionals , but sometimes I think guys, and gals ! Watch it on tele, think. " that looks easy" and buy a bike and next day out on the open road !  They wouldn't think of joining a club and getting advice and support,  I reiterate that I'm not in any way talking about professionals such as the girl who was injured, but amateurs .

I love to watch the cycling, but have to say that in my opinion the downhill section looked very dangerous . The gullies where very extremely deep and the kerbs very high......I watched it live and a lot of the riders got very close to the gullies.   I don't think having more Marshalls could have helped and  when she crashed and didn't move, I feared the worst, it was a horrible crash and I think she was lucky to have got away with fractures in her spine and bruising.   Just my opinion peeps, but that was a downhill section with disaster written all over it!

When I posted my response the World News said that she had no injuries.  Certainly no mention of ICU or fractures.  You could have explained that rather than the 'wtf' comment  :-X

Crikey - I was on-line at 6.30, unusually early for me I know ; but I wanted to find out the results as I missed the cycling yesterday: obviously hard copy went to Press B4 any health up-dates about the accident were published.

Time Trial on Wednesday .

I'm back on my bike!  :) The last time was 2 years ago when my neather regions became very very sore, probably due to the usual dryness and prolapse versus the seat. Localised oestrogen and hysterectomy have helped and my new spongy wonder seat, a gift from my son. I have to slowly get acclimatised to this new seat, so it's just up and down the road, harden up my behind and confidence, before going on any adventures.

Oh well done!  Mine is in the shed, can't even remember the colour  ::).  Since Tour de France began in Yorkshire followed by Tour de Yorkshire cycling interest has increased, also the TV Companies seem to have taken on board that people like to watch  :).

Time Trial 2-morrow ……….

le Veulta a Espania - yesterday there was a crash, a Spanish rider fell flat onto his face and has broken 3 teeth, which hurt when eating or if the face gets warm or if a draught goes across  :o :o :o - but he is still out there, cycling across Spain  :-X

I heard the commentator today saying what had happened, I will see it when we eventually watch the highlights programme.  I follow some of the cyclists on Twitter and have seen photos from the dentists chair  :o

Another reason why sport isn't good for us: cyclist in Dublin knocked off bike by a stag leaping over the riders  :o
