Restrictions to lockdown? England ?
« on: May 07, 2020, 12:11:55 PM »

I think that if the rumour is true, that anyone of those living in a flat should be allowed into the open air, to hop and skip across green grass ...... to sit in the sunshine and top up VitD levels.

Bet the idea is altered by Sunday  :D ......... however, I don't think restrictions should be lifted until at least 2 weeks after the last confirmed case?

Those living in a flat can already go out for their daily exercise.

649 people died yesterday with over 6100 new cases.  Relaxing the lockdown now is nothing more than state backed murder.

second wave is coming and it will be even more lethal!

If you watched the News it shows how difficult it is for families with several young children to leave a flat.  Plus getting shopping, buggies, kids up and down stairs when lifts are broken or too disgusting to use.

I wonder how many times that Boris will change his mind next week.  Driven by the Banks.  Probably.

I can't see that allowing people outside to take exercise more is going to increase the risk - the problem arises from being close to someone infected or from touching a surface that has the virus on it.  So being allowed to go further for walks etc, with your own household is not going to make things worse.

It might actually help - I think many people are getting so fed up with lockdown that more and more people will start breaking the rules.  Maybe if they are relaxed just a little, to allow people to spend longer outside, they will be more willing to keep to the rules.

It'll be interesting to see what Wales comes up with - so far, our First Minister seems to make a point of saying the exact opposite of whatever Boris does.  We get our announcement tomorrow - no doubt trying to get in ahead of England so he can prove he's not following what they say.  I am getting tired of the political point scoring going on between the various countries.  Having different rules for Wales & England is especially stupid - I can cross and recross the border several times on one short journey, so how Wales is going to police a stricter lockdown than England is anyone's guess - people in East Wales will simply border hop!

Hi Dorothy, I dont know if you are north or south but I live in SW Wales, we havent had as many cases here but north Wales figures are creeping up according to Public Health Wales website.  I watch the Welsh announcement every day but I get distracted watching the sign language woman  :). Lets see what today brings, I cant see how Wales can be different to England either.

I know there are differences in the spread of the disease, but I have noticed that over the past couple of weeks, Drakeford has consistently come out with the exact opposite to Westminster every time - and the Welsh cases aren't fluctuating that much!

It's the same with Keir Starmer - he's been hassling Boris for weeks to announce lockdown exit plans, and now Boris has said he's going to do that, Starmer has done a complete about turn and is saying it's too early.  I just wish ALL politicians would pull together and focus on what's best for the country, not on what might get them into/keep them in positions of power.

That could be interesting for my son and his girlfriend, if the Welsh announcement says ok to return to work. They have just moved to Monmouthshire, but work in Bristol.  :D
