Yep.  As oestrogen levels drop muscles may become lax.  Also there is pollen about right now - at least by not traveling I don't get near oil seed rape which tightens my chest.

I had sinus infections years ago: it was like being hung over for no reason and bending forward ............  :-\  :-X

I'm down for getting my nose cauterised under a general anaesthetic to try and reduce all my allergy problems. Obviously no date at the moment.

But, with starting a new trial on a new contraceotive pill I'm feeling headachy bug also behind my nose. It's gig me wondering if hormones havd again been at play? 😬

Daisies. I've had sinus problems most of my life due to a wonky septum.  I find the sinus washes good. I use one which is a bottle you fill with boiled cooled down water and sachets of saline powder dissolved in it. Dont think I'm allowed to name it. But they also come in a little tea pot shape. I prefer the bottle. Doing it every day cut down my rate of infections which I used to keep having anti biotics for.

I ran out and havent had it this year and I've had a low level infection hanging around for ages.

Last summer I used a sinus wash which is a pressurised can. It comes in a natural hayfever and allergy preparation. (No anti histamine) OTC and I used it to combat hayfever as the tablets are too drying now I'm post meno.

One could boil water and pour over a tablespoon of kitchen salt, allow to cool.  Use carefully.

Sinus pain is the pits.

I have post nasal drip which doesn't help.  Also regular hoovering eases the problem, especially in the bedroom.

Yes you have to be careful with salt. The sachets contain salt and sodium bicarbonate and are supposed to be ph balanced. There is probably less than a teaspoon in each one.

Also don't do it with cold water. It stings like heck. Boil then cool til its warm.

Daisies. I've never made it myself. I like the sachets as they are premixed and the right amount. Plus the bottle propels a steady stream x

Have you tried a one a day antihistamine and steroid nasal spray? Thiis seems to really help me with sinus issues in the hayfever season.

https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/non-allergic-rhinitis/treatment/

To make the solution at home, mix a teaspoon of salt and a teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda into a pint of boiled water that's been left to cool to around body temperature (do not attempt to rinse your nose while the water is still hot).

The instructions say to put some in your hand and suck it up - sounds like it will go up in surprising spurts.  I usually use a tall thin glass and try and suck some up one nostril until it reaches the other end (learn this is stages), then blow it out.  If it is the right temperature it is not too noticeable until you have to stop.

Have an old towel handy for the fall out.

When I am more civilised, I use the spray stuff from the Chemist and tissues.  It is a bit expensive but a special treat for the hayfever season  ;D
