Fight for your rights!!!!
« on: April 06, 2020, 11:16:14 AM »

Hi ladies

I just wanted to share my great news.

I've been banging on for ages about the problems I've had with my gps diagnosing and prescribing HRT and local oestrogen.

Well today, after 2 letters to the Practice Manager and supporting letters from the goddess Dr Newson, they have finally agreed to increase my prescription to 6 pumps of estrogel per day and 3 Vagifem and Ovestin per week!!!

I'm over the moon!

When the patch debarcle is finally over I'll be swapping to 1 x 100 mcg patch and 2 x pumps of gel but I don't want to faff around not being able to get patches at the mo so I'll wait.

Please please please persevere ladies trying to get what you need. If I can turn my gps around then so can you!!

The idea is to use it nightly for 2 weeks then as necessary though many manage with every 3rd and every 5/6th night.  Some need it every night.  It's Trial and Error  ::)

U can now enjoy the Summer weather  ;)

Well done Bobody! This will provide great encouragement to others in the same situation. Virus or not women should not have to suffer from menopausal symptoms and fight to get treatment especially at this time when we need to be physically and mentally at our best if possible.

Definately, I think respectful, factual, unemotional letters to the Practice Manager with a copy of NICE, BMS info / evidence is the way to go.

Get the fire in your bellies ladies and take them on! Xx

Its appalling really that you've had to go through all that with your GPs - life is stressful enough, but good that you've had a successful outcome.

Thank you, yes it's crazy. I have some symptoms like tinnitus, muscle pains and painful hands which just won't completely go and I wonder if I'd started hrt 4 years ago whether I would still have them, but I'll never know I guess.

I know what you mean. I asked about hrt soon after my last period 6 years ago but was told I couldn't have it. I wasnt as keyed up on the facts then and there didnt seem to be as much help around so I didn't challenge it. Also feeling low and depressed made it difficult. I wonder if Id started then I would be in a better place now particularly with regard to the protective benefits it offers.

Yes, I'd never heard of perimenopause so never thought for a minute in my early 40s it was that. Particularly as I was still having heavy periods at the time.
