Hi ladies just getting used to the page, first time. Apologies in advance if this long winded story has been done before but here goes.

45 next month perimenopausal for 2.5 years Have been through so many appointments, eventually got to a meno specialist. Very unhelpful and dismissive. I've had the coil in for 7 months and 2 daily pumps of estrogeon. I had excessive bleeding which the coil has resolved but still had lots of PMs symptoms as well as low mood, tearful, headaches, bloated, just no.oooomph, no libido. Then prescribed mini pill on top which made me worse, so stopped taking it.  Oh and I was given a Senate focus helps sheet, which I actually now find laughable because I was so chemically doped up on progesterone a printed sheet was never going to help. Think I'm not tolerating progesterone very well. Was hoping to go onto Ugesteron for part of the month, continue with estrogen gel and maybe a bit of testosterone but have seen issues getting both Ugesteron and testosterone prescribed in Scotland. Thinking of going private. My health board is Glasgow and Clyde. Clinic is Sandyford. Had an appointment scheduled in May but cancelled due to coronavirus. Thanks if you've read to the end xx

Hi Maria75

Who on earth prescribed the mini pill on top of the mirena! You are right when you say it was too much progesterone. I've always struggled with progesterone and in fact had the mirena removed after 6 months as side effects didn't improve. The side effects I had were exactly the same as you are suffering now.

All I can suggest if you want to continue with the mirena (and it may settle) is to up your oestrogen gel to negate the side effects of progesterone.

Sorry I can't comment on utrogestan and Scotland as I don't live there. Hopefully some of our members who do may be able to enlighten you x

Thank you for your reply. It was a menopause specialist that prescribed the mini pill in addition to the mirena.  :-\ I think I would better with progesterone for a specific time, not constant. Also not tolerating the oral one either.

I was thinking of upping my estrogen in the run up to the time of the month but will do 3 pumps from today.

Again thank you. I feel as though I have been stabbing in the dark and have become a super slaughter through constant searching on the internet which to be fair has probably helped me more than the "specialist" x

🤪 Type in keywords into the search box on this site. The ladies on here are a mine of information, and everything has been discussed, including mirena/prog intolerance etc. it's how I educated myself. Good luck x

Why has your appt been cancelled .........  :-\ a menopause clinic should be safe enough?

Put the names of the products into the search box as suggested.  See what pops up.  Make notes.

Coronavirus given as the reason. When I asked if they had a reschedule plan and if I was on the list for rescheduling. I was advised they were working on it but to continually to check their online platform. I don't think they know what they are doing  ???  Thanks for the advice. I'm going to get searching and will have a pen and paper at the ready. Thank you.
