Drowning dog dragged out of river
« on: January 06, 2020, 11:41:28 PM »

A lady walking past the river Trent in Newark, saw a dog struggling in the water, she managed to drag it out and called police, the poor dog had a large stone in a carrier bag fastented to its lead
The owner of the dog has been arrested,
Microchip scan showed its name is Bella, registered in 2010, so the poor dog is at least 10 years old
She is a Belgian Shepherd i think it said
How someone can do this to a dog they have had for years, [anytime anyway]
Apparently the womans partner is said on facebook to have hated the dog as it had weak legs or some problems
I bet thay poor thing has had a terrible life,
I hope it gets a good home now
Couldn't have been in the river long ,as it is recovering and eating
Made me cry reading about it

I really struggle to understand animal cruelty, especially with rescue centres and vets available.
The story made me tearful too jaycee- cold hearted woman, scum of the earth.  :steamed:

Man and woman arrested today,or maybe yesterday, good thing the dog was chipped to them,
Th evene woman is pregnant so god help that poor baby,
They must have had the dog for a long time if it was registered in 2010, probably from a pup,
As far as i could tell by reading from people who know the couple,it was the man who hated the dog,
If ever i had to choose,it would be the dog
In fact i did once have to choose, thinking about it, I was engaged to a teacher who kept taunting my cat, and it scratched him,he said one day it's me or the cat, guess who stayed, only had 1 cat then
People amaze me choosing a man over children or animals

Often too people get pets when they want a baby - I knew a woman over 40 years ago that did that and was amazed that I was angry when she hinted that she was going to get rid of the dog once she got pregnant  >:(

I wouldn't get rid of my pets ;-) Ever!

The woman in this case is pregnant, god help her child, police have arrested them, but still asking for CCTV footage and  any information,
The dog is recovering and eating i guess it couldn't have been in the river long, not with that huge stone attached to its lead ,or it wouldn't have lasted long

I do hope that the Press follow up this tale.  I would think Bella will get a good home.  It is known that violence to pets in a household can also relate to children so hopefully Social Services will be involved.

Apparently the cat that travelled from Birmingham for over 100 miles in a car engine hasn't been claimed so will be rehomed: a pretty little tabby.  The power of social media brings these stories to light ........
