Anyone feel extremely anxious after increasing utrogestan?
« on: December 10, 2019, 11:30:35 AM »

Last year I decreased my utrogestan and my anxiety went through the roof. I went back to the original dose I was on (100mg for 21 days of cycle) and stabilised, and then a few months ago I doubled the dose. I now have extreme anxiety again! Utrogestan always calmed me down before so I'm confused and wondered if anyone had similar experiences?
Hugs to all the warrior women out there :)

Thank for sharing Birdy :) I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I was really well on a lower dose before - did you find that or are you progesterone intolerant?
Hope you feel level now and have found a regime that suits you?

Here's hoping the increase helps you!

And I do get fatigued (but I prefer that to this being unable to sit still hell) and have had low blood pressure readings in the past; could that be relevant? I have anxiety for years but the progesterone (at least at the lower dose) seemed to help this at first.

Estradot 100mcg patches (for the time being), and have been on this dose constantly since I started HRT (I've only changed the amount of progesterone).

Just seen your edited post - very useful info, thanks! :)
And I'm actually taking HRT for PCOS, but a lot of the symptoms overlap (I may be peri for all I know).

And I've always had high end of normal/high testosterone levels - could that be making me anxious?

Our replies crossed! Yes, high testosterone is usually a major symptom of PCOS.

Thanks Birdy! That's really kind of you, I appreciate your time :) Sounds like there's a lot of useful info - what's the name of the group?
I had a much better day yesterday, no panics and felt much more like myself and Christmassy, and today I've had a massive panic attack.
It's so frustrating to have one good/normal day then another scary day :'(
I had bloods done recently when I was feeling really bad (be interested to see what those are) including estrogen and testosterone. But my consultant isn't back until the 20th so I won't be able to see the results until after that.

That sounds rough, I'm so sorry you're going through this! Interesting what you said about feeling increasingly bad after stopping progesterone, it's like withdrawal! I think I might be adjusting after halving my dose, been nearly two weeks and still hard but have had a tiny bit of relief compared to last week.
