Pelvic scan
« on: November 23, 2019, 10:07:40 AM »

Had my pelvic scan yesterday for intermittent pain on left side, although this had settled over the last few weeks while waiting, i still went anyway for peace of mind. Usually when ive had these before  ive been told details like the linings nice and thin, ovaries look fine and once a long time ago the size of a simple fluid filled cyst that eventually resolved. This time however, she said when i ask if everything was ok, that she wasnt qualified to say and id have tbe results in a week with my GP. Im now very worried.

Could be that, I've read since that radiographers just do the scan and pass to a radiologist to do the report, perhaps last time i had a radiologist who could talk me through what she saw and  also before i had them done at the hospital, this time it was at the local medical centre.

Radiographers are not supposed to share results. Not sure if that is the case where you are, but in Australia, a more qualified person looks at scan and then it is passed to your doctor.

Thats probably the case here in the UK, just that previuos scans the've always said all looked fine but this time she wouldn't say so i automactically  thought the worst.  Will find out in a week anyway and hopefully its ok.
