Does menopause become every day pain?
« on: December 08, 2019, 05:00:44 AM »

Hi beautiful ladies,
I'm 45 and premenopausal, had a hysterectomy June last year, still got my ovaries. I believe I've been premenopausal for about a year now, I got virginal atrophy, sore eyes, and other symptoms listed below

I know when I'm due for my periods, my ovaries kill me, my back get a lot worse, quick stabbing pain that moves though out my body, I get sad and depressed and cry. But at the moment it's only when I would normally have my cycle.

My question is,  Will it come to a point where this is a everyday occurrence as I move though menopausal? Or is it always up and down and changing?

Thanks for any help Lyn

Thanks for your reply jaypo.
After three days of crap, yesterday being my worst, I'm feeling a lot better today. My doctor told me I would feel my ovaries for at least another five years, until they shrink and go away   :'(
She is keeping a eye on them and I having ultrasound done every 3 months. I had 14 ultrasounds in just over three years :o
On my bad days menopause really gets me down, but  I'm blessed to have a supportive husband :)

It's early for you.  Does over the counter pain relief help ease symptoms?  How was the pain B4 surgery?

Don't be hard on yourself.  The body has to adjust.

R U using anything for the atrophy, we have threads about that here !  >:(  ::)

Hi, a few days before my phantom period was due (hysterectomy retaining ovaries earlier this year) and a couple of days into my phantom period I felt dreadful with mood, tiredness, aches and pains etc. It has taken 3.5 pumps of estrogel daily to knock that on the head and now I feel consistently ok.

Every so often I'll get a twinge where I assume my ovaries are floating around but nothing that lasts.

I'm not sure if you are on hrt and could consider it? Peri menopause sucks but hrt has been a godsend for me and not having to take progesterone is a bonus. If you have contraindications for hrt you can still have VA treatment which you might find eases some of your abdominal pains.

Hi again ladies,
Yes over the counter pain killers help. The pain before surgery about the same, I had endometriosis as well. But my back is a lot worst but only got told I have degenerative diss disease in two places of my spine plus the start of arthritis. I feel premenopausal is making it worst and my piles worst, had it since mid September :'(
I am taking Vagifem and Ovestin on the outside for virginal atrophy.
And my doctor won't let me go on HRT, because she worried it wil, make my ovaries worst. I can feel my ovaries on most days, just mild pain, so she won't allow me to go on HRT :'(

Why are you having ultrasounds done so regularly? Are you at high risk for cancer?

I wonder if the pain you are getting is residual endometriosis rather than just ovaries? Did they manage to remove most of it during your hysterectomy? You could take progesterone with oestrogen I think to stop the endometriosis getting stimulated.

Here's some info that I'm sure you already know https://www.menopausedoctor.co.uk/menopause/endometriosis-and-hrt

I'm not sure if you have seen a meno specialist? Or you could email Dr Currie on here detailing the specifics of your situation for some further advice on treatment?

Don't know why I'm having so many ultrasounds, a lot of them was before my hysterectomy. I think about 5 after, because I keep complaining of ovaries pain, every time I have a ultrasound, the specialist that reads it recommends that I have another ultrasound in three months.

When I expressed my concern about how many I'm having and will it course me harm, my doctor said it safe to have a lot of ultrasounds. I think after my next one in March 2020, I'm going to ask if I can go on HRT again, she got a year of ultrasounds, surely someone can make that judgment, even if I have to be referred to gynaecologist.

I would insist on knowing why they are doing ultrasounds every 3 months. This is not normal. Either they are over servicing or there is an issue they are keeping a close eye on. You deserve to know exactly what they are watching.
