Sgtvhilts - from one suspicious bird to another - both of those scenarios I'd say. Add in NHS purchasing protocol and you have the perfect storm. Although, femseven, or it's equivalent, isn't available in Spain, so that appears genuine.

I asked the very same question about 'manufacturing problems' a while ago on a different thread. It seemed so odd that Spain had an adequate supply, however I think both Italy and Holland have supply issues now. I believe some ladies have found that they can buy online for the time being but it's a sad state of affairs all round.

My sister is in Northern France at the moment and also on HRT. She tells me she was able to buy oestrogen patches using her UK prescription no problem so if going to continental Europe do take this along. She tells me that at the town she was visiting each of the two phamarcies only had one box of 50 mcg (she asked for) in stock but could order other strengths no problem. As she is travelling about she just bought the one box at each but sounds like this is a possibility. I think possibly as there are more gel users in France they would stock more of this or maybe in larger towns you could more if just dropping by? The type she got is “Dermestril 50” made by Mylan. Never heard of this but will surely do the job in the circs if anyone is on hols there and running short?

I must say as I mentioned earlier I still do find it worrying that you can buy patches in Spain without a prescription – although of course those on the forum who are doing this do have a prescription - and great to be able to assure of supply in current circumstances! Just  amazed that there would not be advice on endometrial protection without a doc or maybe the pharmacists give this advice or the conversation in Spain acts like a UK GP consultation?

There is another main thread which talks about the shortages so will say something on there too....

I enquired in a pharmacy in Italy because I had read of someone buying  them there otc. I was told that it wasn't possible.  The example I read was of a woman who told the pharmacist that she had arrived on holiday but had left her patches at home.

In Lanzarote you can buy any HRT product over the counter in a pharmacy they always to have order it for collection the following the day.

I always take the empty box and have been able to buy Estradot patches,Ovestin,and Estring.
I did ask about Testogel sachets and could have bought over the counter was even asked how many boxes I wanted !!!

I also took a photo on my phone of Lezentto spray and again no problem (that stuff is brilliant as being a spray it dries in seconds)

I currently use gel ( prescribed on the NHS) but would like to change to this but I'm not rocking the boat at the moment plus I'm not sure how it compares cost wise to the gel. Or even if you can get prescription for it in the U.K.

Out of interest has anyone prescribed Lezentto spray on the NHS?

There are several medicines like this. Just because they have a licence number and listed on MHRA doesn't mean to say they are available in UK. I actually have a box in my possession as my sister kindly brought me back one. Had already looked it up when she brought it back, discovered that link, had a quick search on the internet and decided - well this one isn't one of ours for whatever reason - so there it is - I mentally dismissed at as a product of interest to us!

From what I can gather after a very quick perusal, even medicines passing through wholesalers in UK need to be licenced so this may well be why it appears on MHRA list. It's not on EMC so it's not one of ours.

Also for info for anyone buying it with their prescription in other EU countries it is a once a week patch and circular - I haven't yet tried it as I don't fancy a weekly patch nor is it easy to cut a bit off to give the right dosage due to its shape - but at least I have a small box for emergency!

I still find this odd - being able to buy without a prescription - but maybe showing your empty box is sufficient? My sister said they took her prescription and noted the info down at the till before they would part with the boxes!

Lenzetto is not yet available in UK - another example I think of a product that is licensed in EU, has a product licence in UK (through MHRA) but is not one of our prescribed medicines ie not listed on EMC. Maybe the same reason as I wondered could be for Dermestril - ie it can pass through UK and needs a licence in order to do so. Not sure why the company has not yet launched it in uK but I wrote to the manufacturers so will report back if they reply!

Lanzalover - I bought some Lenzetto last time I was in Gran Canaria, no prescription, I just showed them a pic on my phone. I guess the 'old enough for alcohol' rule probably applies in an ‘old enough for hrt' variation! I think it was 10 euro? Its wonderful stuff, so convenient, but sadly for me it's a weird absorber, like gel, but I may have another go with it. Any ladies planning a holiday to Spain should take a little shopping list in light of our dwindling supplies.

I live in Spain & yes there are a lot of things that you can buy over the counter at a pharmacy in Spain including HRT. They are starting to clamp down a bit on it though.
There are things that they will definitely not sell to you over the counter  like for eg. Anti Depressents or Valium for obvious reasons.
