Period pain with Femoston 1/10
« on: October 05, 2019, 02:58:25 PM »

I've just completed my first month of Femoston 1/10 and I have to say I have had strong period pain every day since taking it with no bleed. Is this something that will settle down with time?  I am post menopause not having had a period for 13 months.
The flushes have gone and I feel a little less dizzy.  Other than that I still feel anxious and sad all the time.

The usual advice is to try an HRT type for 3 months to see if it suits you. Hopefully you will get a bleed shortly after starting the second pack and that next month the pains will ease? I do hope things improve for you. You may find eventually that an increased dose is needed.

Thanks for that Hurdity.  Do you have a bleed with Femoston Conti 1/5?

Hi there - conti HRT types are designed as no bleed HRTs for post-menopause as you take the same dose of progestogen and oestrogen every day. However there is often breakthrough bleeding in the first few months of starting it even if you are post-menopause, and if you went onto this while still peri then you would almost certainly get breakthrough bleeding. If you are feeling anxious and sad it may be that the dose is not high enough as i said but there is no 2 mg Femoston conti HRT unfortunately so if you get on well with that brand then you would have to stay with having a bleed ( well you might actually get one with 2/10 if you don;t get one with 1/10!).

Hope it all works out for you and keep us posted! :)
