100mg Utrogestan every day???
« on: November 06, 2019, 12:46:21 PM »

I've seen a menopause specialist today and she's prescribed Utrogestan 100mg DAILY. She said that because I'd had 10 months period free (prior to all the fannying around with Elleste Duet and the mirena/gel method) I was "nearly there"  Is she saying that I'm Menopausal now - or am I still "Peri"?   Confused dot com!!!  ;D

I've been on the gel for two and a bit weeks so knew I was ready for the Progesterone part. I was just expecting her to give me 200mg to take for a couple of weeks. Taking the lower 100mg dose EVERY day has thrown me somewhat.

What are peoples experiences of Utro on the continuous cycle? I'd be very interested to know. If it helps me sleep then Im fab with that but it's the other side effects that I'm a tad worried about.

Thoughts please ladies xxx

Graciemouse I answered on your other thread - but not about utro every day of which I have no experience! The longest I've used it for is 12 days and that's more than enough for me. I knpw that others love it  and thrive. Dotty for one so hopefully she'll be along...

I've been on the exact same regime for the last two-plus months and on the whole the continuous Utragestan 100mg has been fine for me. I was worried beforehand about the progesterone element of HRT.

At this stage I still have a little water retention and need to be careful about consuming more food like celery, rhubarb, etc, to move things along digestively.

It does help me sleep, which is a huge plus-point as insomnia was driving me mad.

I swapped to vaginal delivery about a week ago to see if that helped with the water retention. Not sure yet.

Thanks Ladies.

Thats reassuring Grheliz1. Fingers crossed I'll be fine. I'll take my first tablet tonight. I too, have chronic insomnia. The gel has started to get on top of the night sweats thank goodness but the insomnia is rubbish, I work 3 x 12 hour days a week and I've resorted to taking a Phenergan tablet the night before work days just to get some sleep in the bag. Otherwise it's like I'm wired. If the Utro can help me with the nights I don't mind upping my celery and rhubarb intake to get things moving! It'll be a small price to pay if that's the only thing that effects me. Thanks xx

I was prescribed Utrogestan every day, it was awful for me, when i managed to sleep, i felt wired up on it,i had awful vivid dreams, all night sweats and kept needed to get up for a wee and in the day i felt so doped up i felt dangerous to do school run and go to work, so abandoned it on day 8. Maybe it might have settled if i had tried longer, hope it suits you though.

Dotty did you have no issues from day 1 or did it take a while to settle on the Utrogestan? I use a Mirena, but am worried about not being able to have one in future.

Hi Tinkerbell I've had no issues from day 1.

I was on Elleste Duet Conti for 3 months before the Utrogestan and Oestrogel and it did nothing for me at all.

Once on oestrogel and Utrogestan my horrendous symptoms started to go. X
