I'm on Evorel 50 following a hysterectomy 5 years ago. I kept my ovaries though. I've not experienced any hair shedding. I'm 66.

hi taz.

thanks for the reply

do you apply to your bottom the everol ?

i have these in the cuboard as tried them but couldn't get them to stick

i think it's the gel causing my shedding as it did before prior to adding in progesterone and now 1 month on it hair shedding again with progesterone yes i've had hysterectomy but thought to try it ss mood stabilizer and balance estrogen effects but i guess it's gunna make no difference plus i gained loads of weight on estrogen alone x but i don't know whether to stop the regime i?m on and put a patch straight on of the everol or stop it for a while till shedding stops then start new regime x

I wonder if the hair loss is related to testosterone? I know that oestrogen affects it and can't remember if it lowers it or or increases it, but that is usually the androgenic hormone that affects hair.

I think that testosterone and progestogen in the form of Provera have caused my hair loss.

hi danger mouse

on estrogen on its own i shed hair but T was low as estrogen lowers tesosterone in surgical menopause this is low though x

i?m currently adding in progesterone but don't think it's making any difference coming up 5 weeks on this regime x apart from helping sleep and mood but then bladder irritation annoying x

my urintation though has changed since starting estrogen some days i feel as though i don't empty properly other days go a lot very strange

some women though take estrogen on its own after surgical menopause having ovaries removed and don't shed hair which is making me wonder whether it's the gel i?m on maybe do better on patch x i?ll see how i go , x

hi taz

with having your own ovaries they will still be producing tesosterone and progesterone to some degree as u may still ovulate so maybe that's why you fortunate not to have hair shedding. x

although some women with ovaries removed don't have shedding on estrogen but i have very strange maybe i now need T added x

I think this may be true for younger women but I'm 66 so don't believe I'm still ovulating. Also have zero libido so probably no testosterone either! I did have hair shedding when I was around 51 and saw a trichologist for tailored hair treatments and advice which did help. Is it shedding from all over or more male pattern baldness?

hi taz

well i?m not sure dermatology say telegen effluvium triggered by adding in estrogen but was shedding still a year later and has got thin at the front forehead line i've lost it at nape of the neck receded a little and thinned behind ears and sides of head well the front and sides would indicate low estrogen but i went 4 yrs with no hrt and my didn't think it just went dryer and more grey lol since hrt it's thinned and shedding no bald patches and my thyroid is fine vitamins all fine so must be hormonal since my break from gel of 9 weeks shedding stopped after 6 and now i?m back on it with progesterone shedding is starting up again at 5 weeks no to the degree as it was yet , but only 5 weeks in but then if the hair works on 3 mth cycle my hair reacting now to december which was when i stopped hrt but it doesn't make sense because the shedding stopped after 6 weeks and now after 5 weeks starting again x i can see my sacking in this hrt and go natural i?m 41 this year still young but i?m not loosing my hair i can protect my bones other ways and through diet and supplements elevate flushes which were never my issue really my symtoms were just vaginal and emotional 😭 x
