HRT shortages
« on: June 28, 2019, 12:01:48 PM »

Just heard a piece on 'You and Yours',  BBC radio 4,  about shortages of HRT products due to manufacturing problems.

If you want to listen it will be on iplayer at the very end of the programme.  One product discussed was Estelle Duet (excuse spelling, I don't take HRT). Apparently this is not likely to be available until late July.

Just been issued a prescription for Tridestra, but pharmacy can't fill it until August at the earliest.
Handed in my existing prescription for Evorel Sequi to be told that's also not available!!!

So currently have NO medication and waiting for the surgery to phone me back today with an alternative!

Hi all

Evorel is manufactured by Janssen in the UK. This is the response they emailed to me when I queried situation...perhaps ask your pharmacy to give them a call as suggested:

"I have confirmed with our Customer Services Department that we have experienced an unusually high demand for the Evorel products recently as a result of the lack of availability of an alternative product not produced by Janssen. The Evorel patches are still being supplied and are still currently available through our preferred wholesale suppliers. If your pharmacy is encountering problems in ordering the product, they can contact Customer Services directly on 0800 731 5550 to order."

Hope that helps. I got my Evorel Conti exactly 2 weeks after prescription was handed in, but I approached 3 other chemists prior to the 4th taking the order. The first 3 chemists just gave me the form back and said it's not available...I think they are getting confused about the various products and / or haven't got time to chase all the different products that are in short supply (HRT meds are just one of many).

Good luck.

Did you get to try the Russell Square/Brunswick branch of Boots?
