Several months ago I reduced my Hrt to one patch a week instead of two.  Everything was fine until the last few weeks when I suddenly started to suffer from constipation. I went to see my Gp who wasn't worried and gave me a script for Laxido.  Suddenly ten days ago I woke up with a horrible sensation, it was as if the room was spinning around me and moving my head up and down made me feel terribly sick. Over the next few days the spinning sensation remained but the nauseous feeling became worse and lasted most of the day.  I also developed a trembling feeling in my stomach and my breathing seemed out of sync, as if I couldn't take a proper breath which was very scary.  I've googled my symptoms and it keeps coming up with anxiety.  I wouldn't describe myself as an anxious person but I do take a low-dose anti-depressant. 

I'd really like to know if the drop in Hrt could have caused this problem and should I go back on the two patches a week?

How horrible for you. Feeling sick and dizzy is very scary. I'm wondering if you could be suffering from labyrinthitis? It's a common virus which causes the symptoms you describe.

Have you tried taking stugeron?its a travel sickness tablet but you take more for dizziness

I thought I might feel more ill with Labyrinthitis but it's a possibility.  If it's a virus I wonder how long it might last?  Never heard of Sturgeon but will look into it thanks.

I had similar symptoms with an inner ear infection. It left it damaged and I had bouts of dizziness and vomiting for several years afterwards. Sturgeron stopped me actually being sick as long as I could keep it down long enough to work, it didn't do anything for the dizziness. I was about 30 at the time so not HRT related.

It's great isn't it Sheila? You ignore the first set of dosage directions for travel sickness and continue down until you come to the inner ear instructions,I'd be lying if I gave you the dosage but it's either 1 or 2 tablets 3 times daily for a few days

It was awful jaypo. If you're travel sick at least you feel better afterwards, this was continuous. Fortunately it's settled down now so I still get tinnitus but it's a few years since I've been sick.

It's awful!   I get it after a heavy head cold - I know when I open my eyes in the morning and the room keels  not to move .  I have a medication to take to ease any nausea.

Sometimes it can be caused by a nerve in the back of the neck which gets nipped when I move - a sudden feeling that the floor is tilting, enough to make me go 'OH!' - fortunately that doesn't last.

Mine is meniers,(spelling?) like you clkd, I know the minute I open my eyes,there are head exercises my dr told me about on YouTube but apparently they make it worse before it gets better..........er no thanks

Sounds like an inner ear issue as previously suggested. I've had recurring bouts for nearly twenty years. It does get better but it can come and go. Stress, infection, flying can all bring it on. It's a horrible feeling. Your GP can check you out and if it is confirmed, can prescribe Prochlorperazine which is an anti nausea drug. It does help beat that horrible seasick feeling.
Stugeron is non prescription and not as strong.
