Is it possible to add patch or gel to a hrt tablet?
« on: April 17, 2019, 07:30:18 PM »

Hi just wondering if this is a possibility before I'm back at the doctors on Tuesday.
I was on duavine and doing ok but symptoms starting keeping back, I was very dry, skin really dry I'm normally oily, hot flushes and night sweats, I had a blood test and it shows my Estrogen very low, could I ask to add low dose patch or gel?
I've tried just the gel and patch but made me so tired so was wondering if added a low dose to the duavine is this possible?
Thank you x

This wouldn't be recommended as then you would be getting too much oestrogen without sufficient womb protection. That product (Duavive) is developed so that the SERM balances the fairly low dose oestrogen. If you need an increased oestrogen dose then best to try another type of HRT otherwise you could get endometrial thickening and then bleeding, with potential for hyperplasia which can sometimes progress to cancer.

Maybe try a transdermal oestrogen along with separate progestogen - take a look at the Menu under Treatments where they are all llisted. Do come back to us if you have any more questions!
