My story

I am having a little trouble knowing if mine is peri menopause as I have had a few things done downstairs that have messed with everything. Let me explain as I feel all my previous things have affected what is happening (I could be totally off the mark though!)
I had always had normal periods before I tried for kids. But unfortunately I had a hormone issue that caused me to
Miscarry multiple times. Finally on my last pregnancy the doctor suggest me having HCG injections to help boost my hormones (it worked!)
After having my daughter my hormones didn’t play by the rules and made my periods intense and heavy. I suffered for some time as I thought that was normal. But eventually I was worried enough to go to the doctors when I was getting 2 days of not being able to function.
His first suggestion was taking the pill (but I am useless at taking tablets) then he suggested depo injections to slow/stop the periods.
Started those and all worked well for about 6 months and then the time between injections got less and less as my bleeding just came back quicker.
Next was the implant which after one month turned me into a psycho (lol) so it was removed.
At this point I was in total despair and they sent me to a specialist to discuss the next option (endometrial ablation) with a mirena coil to stop the lining grow back.
They said I was a perfect candidate for it and was scheduled a few weeks later for the procedure. For about 1 year things seemed to ease (my period never entirely went or was regular!) but then each time after a year my periods again became heavier and heavier.
I went back to the doctors and they said try to persevere until the coil is ready to be removed and we can discuss options.
I reached time to discuss my next move in February 2018 and they decided to do another mirena coil, a lining biopsy/scrape and an unt raspy s to see if their was anything untoward.
I had that done in mid March and when my results of the biopsy/ultrasound were ready I sat with the doctor again.
The results were I had quite a normal thickness Lining for someone who had the ablation but nothing sinister. But my bleeding had not subsided so I asked what else we could do he said nothing really as I was too young and not a good candidate for any form of hysterectomy and as I was in my 40’s it was likely my menopause may start before this coil ran out!
So here we are today 3 years into the 2nd coil and feeling like I have some symptoms of the menopause. But my uncertainty is with the fact my periods have never been regular or normal for at least the last 10 years.
I have what I feel are hot flashes in the day when I feel a heat in my chest rising up to my face which lasts a short time and then fades. And in the last 3-4 months I have had issues staying asleep. I put the sleep issue down to I had a back complaint and carpal tunnel and the pain woke me. But my back pain was treated and my carpal sort of eased and I am still struggling to get a full night of sleep
Sorry for the ridiculously long post. Thank you if you read all of this and gosh it feels good to get this off my chest.
How do I know if it’s the menopause or not? Is there a test I can get or do I just assume?
Thank you for any advice

changes can be scary, even when we want them

Morning!
Not long post at all. Venting can help ;-)
MayB put 'mirena coil' into the search box on the Forum to see what pops up. Make notes.
Some ladies find that keeping a mood/symptom/food diary useful to chart progress. Seems you know more or less where you are.
Perimenopause can begin B4 we become aware of what it might be
. Hopefully someone will be along with more advice. Browse round.

It sounds like meno to me. There is a test that measures fsh which increases in meno but I'm not sure if they can use it if you have a mirena or with your hormone problems. Perhaps ask your surgery?
