Hi Everyone
Just a quick question - how long does it take for the cramping and spotting to stop post insertion?
I had mine placed a week ago, along with d&c, hysteroscopy and biopsy - I feel ok on it, but have been cramping and period-like bleeding on it ever since. I've read it can take up to six months to settle, but was wondering if anyone could give me some advice xx

Hi NorthArm I would think that the cramping and bleeding is more to do with the D&C? Were you given any advice on this procedure? I think the bleeding usually lasts at least a week. If the cramping is getting worse or you have a raised temperature then you need to see your GP as this could mean you have an infection. I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Northarm
I had mine put in last October and I had cramping for a few days could have been longer and for about 3-4 months or so on and off light bleeding and spotting. It did take a while to settle down x

Thank you all so much for replying, that's put my mind at rest a bit 😁
Taz, I've had a couple of d&c before which were miscarriage related and I can only remember light spotting for about 2 or 3 days afterwards. I've had it inserted to try and manage erratic bleeding so here's hoping it works it's magic soon 😁😁

After I had my Mirena I had 8 days of cramping, the spotting continued for 4.5 months.

I had mine fitted two years ago, no cramping or nothing for about 10 days then 12 days of light bleeding and cramping. No real bleeding since, well a red spot twice in a panty liner which freaked me as not had any bleeding for over a year. Hormone serge I think.
Only have a slight beige marking when I have a period, which is past 3-4 months is about 8-9 weeks apart.
I think it can effect everyone differently. Personally I'm kind of hoping my ovaries are finally shutting down as ‘period' further apart and pmt symptoms are going.
Good luck with it all xx

Thank you so much Seu666 😁. The cramping seems to be much less today (although I was at work, so busy). Still bleeding...but I'm feeling ok 😁😁
