Afternoon ladies
« on: April 08, 2019, 04:12:28 PM »

Hi Ladies, I'm another newbie to this forum. I've been living with menopausal symptoms for 3 years now and was told last week by my new lady gp that at just 49 I was quite young to have gone through the menopause and as I haven't had a period for those 3 years I have definitely gone through it! As my symptoms have got worse I have now reluctantly said I'd try HRT - 5 days in so watch this space!!

GPs are so fixated on age  :bang: you may well require the HRT to protect bones and heart ;-).

Browse round.  Make notes.  Do read our threads about vaginal atrophy  ;) and we have a funny room to .......

Hello Hels and welcome to the forum.

I was also reluctant to start HRT as I hoped to get through the menopause on my own but, like you, when my symptoms became worse I asked for help.

I hope your regime works for you but there is plenty of help from the lovely ladies of the if you need it.

Take care.

Hiya hels.  :welcomemm:
I have read that starting HRT sooner rather than later once in post meno can have protective benefits for the years to come.
I hope you find your regime helps with symptoms
Please post lots and dont be afraid to ask anything or join in with any conversation.
I hope you get as much out of the forum as I have over the last few months.
Xx

Hi Hels,
Welcome - I am new too, and like you, was reluctant to try HRT. I noticed a huge difference in symptoms in just a few days.
Look forward to hearing how you get on with it. :)

Welcome Hels. I too was through the menopause by 50. Some GP's definitely need shaking when they fixate on age rather than symptoms of meno ladies. Good luck with the HRT.  Post about anything on here and you won't be judged there is always a lovely lady around who can help us to feel better

My husband and I have the same male GP.  He went to his yearly physical last month and got told he has the body of a 30 yr old.  I saw him yesterday and got told that my arthritis and aches and pains at 42 are a normal part of aging and that I need to learn to manage my pain and make lifestyle changes.      :beat:

I'm sure if he was living with the symptoms the GP would think differently!!
