Extra saliva

Hi ladies, has anyone experienced extra saliva? I have had it for a couple of weeks now and the only time I don't have it is when I am chewing gum. It tastes a bit like if you have eaten something sour and gives you that watery sweet/sour taste when your tastes buds over produce.

Sounds like a reflux problem, have it checked at the doctors.

I agree with Deidre. You can have reflux without any burning pain initially. Let us know how you get on.

Hi I have bad what's called silent reflux. Feels like over production of saliva. If it's just started please get treatment. I have been with ent for two years for silent reflux. The symptoms have got worse. Throat inflamed, swallowing issues etc had MRI scan and now acid inhibitors. I'm still suffering. See if u can alter diet as this can aggravate and reduce stress. Good luck

Hi ladies sorry for late reply been away on Easter break.
Dr thinks it is related to acid reflux, wants me to increase Omeprazole for 2 weeks and has given me drops for my mouth as she says it is slightly coated. If no improvement after the two weeks she want to take bloods. I will keep you updated.

Next is a scope to check for her hernia. My mum similar issues and it was meno related. Please keep all updated. What worked etc

Just for info. I was feeling a bit out of sorts yesterday, memory and slight anxiety not sure why then lots of acid this morning then a period. I think its hormonal. I have started two omeprazole two days ago to see if I can sort out the acid. One months worth also a stool sample to check for and infection. I hope we find the solution x

It could also be due to laxity of muscles. I dribble
at night. Dentist suggested it's menopausal
. I never had problems B4 but sleep with a wad of kleenex under my mouth to keep my pillow dry

jgr. I had this. It can be just anxiety. The more you are aware of it the more you produce.
I found when I didn't dwell on it it just righted itself after a couple of weeks. You certainly did the best thing
starting at the Docs though.

This might be a long shot but I had the same problem with dry mouth and sticky saliva. I searched on line and discovered mouth wash with alcohol ie listerene causes problems. It may be due to menopause our mouths get drier and this makes it worse. As soon as I changed to listerene without alcohol problem seems to have gone. Not sure if this helps but thought I would mention it anyway.
