The brain fog is awful, I just feel like my head is empty! I really wish I didn't have to work, I feel like I'm just getting through the days with no memory at all. I will keep the Mirena until it's time for removal and by then I will be 55 and not needing it for contraceptive purposes. It's just the oestrogen patches (Elleste Solo) I'm not sure whether to stop them now or continue until the coil is removed. Does oestrogen help or hinder brain fog?

Brain fog is a common meno symptom and caused by falling oestrogen levels, so it's unlikely your patch is causing it. That said I didn't like elleste when I tried it and have found my current hrt more effective. Brain fog was one of my main symptoms when meno hit and I feel hrt is working and has halted the decline x

Hi Karenmax

I'm on evorel 50 with separate progesterone (Utrogestan). I felt better the minute I started it. It's the same oestrogen as Evorel Conti but without the progesterone noresthisterone (which I couldn't tolerate). It's usually progesterone that causes problems, have you considered it may be the Mirena that's the issue?x

Hi
I'm just confused about all hrt
At minute my brain feels like mush I can't think straight my head feels muzzy

I've not clue what was causing what , all I know is I need help from this meno clinic as my doc seems to be as clueless as me , she did change me onto another patch beginning with E but no chemist here had it they said there was a hold up with manufacturers and it would be Dec 19 before it would return
I'm in Northern Ireland!!
It's definitely sumthing in the everol patch that was annoying my body as when I put it on the first day and half I felt ok but by the 3 rd day I felt awful

Thus menopause is worse thing ever , it really has knocked me of my feet and lingers it's going on the worse I feel !!

Just so fed up now after 5 yrs of postmeno plus 6 yrs of pri menopause ..

Hope you feel better son

Type brain fog into the search bar at the top and you'll see it's been discussed many times, and hopefully it'll give you some pointers. Take care x

Thank you I have looked over the brain fog many times on here and I still can't get my silly brain around my own fuzzy /muzzy brain , it's almost as if I can't clear my head to think of anything ? (Sounds crazy but only way I can descit )
Plus memory is really starting to grind me down , I'm 51 soon 52 and I honestly feel like I'm 99
I remember my grandmother saying she was having a crazy brain day ( she meant she was forgetful ) but holy moly I didn't know it could get this bad

I'm pretty sure it's the progesterone that's the culprit. On the oestrogen patches alone my brain fog lifted, this was because my body was starved of oestrogen, I'll never forget the sensation of well-being and everything lifting a couple of hours after I put my first patch on as if my body was thanking me.

I'm shocking on the prog part though, hence I limit it. Sorry you're not feeling any better Birdy x

Birdy forgive me if you've already said why you are still on HRT if , as you say , it makes you feel so bad ? Is whatever the reason you're still on HRT worth all this ?
