Lumpy breasts and Oestrogel
« on: March 19, 2019, 05:58:18 PM »

Hi all

I am on Oestrogel and Utrogestan.  My menopause doctor has put my back to three pumps, after I reduced back to two following a meltdown , which then led to loads of pain, digestive problems and uncontrollable anxiety

I have got my anxiety somewhat under control (relatively speaking), and that could be a combination of the upping the estrogen and the cbt & mindfulness I am doing.

However, on three pumps my breasts are really sore and lumpy.  Of course the lumpiness then reignites my anxiety thinking that maybe it is sinister (I had a mammogram last August, and a scan on 20th December).

Does anyone else have lumpy breasts?  At the scan the consultant thought I had cysts, but the scan showed nothing but healthy breast tissue.  So, I am hoping that the "new" lumpiness is nothing bad, and couldn't get that bad in 3 months?

I am tempted to try 2 and a half pumps, does that sound like a sensible thing to do?   For a complete picture, I was also on Androfeme, which I stopped, and have not gone back to, but might try just using twice a week when I can gather up the courage.

TBH I feel sort of trapped, horrible symptoms without HRT, and worrying side effects with HRT.

Anyway, thanks for reading, I know its a bit all over the place.

Hi jeepers, lumpy breasts are quite common, cysts also very common the older you get.have you had an ultra sound'thats how they looked at my cysts. I was also told by specialist that anything sinister would be hard and not slip about under your fingers xx

Jeepers, if it helps I have super lumpy breasts plus masses of cysts and they have given me a huge amount of pain since I upped my Estradot patches.

Admittedly it was a large increase as I doubled my patches from 100 to 2x100 (I don't absorb well) but I was starting to worry when they hadn't settled down after three months. My specialist wasn't worried 'though and I am now into month 5 and they have settled down a lot (I also introduced testosterone at the three month mark). They always seemed to be more painful during the progesterone phase but that has reduced considerably too. Perhaps you just need to give it a bit of time?

Hi

thanks for replying

Yes, sorry if I didn't make it clear.  I had a scan on 20th December, which showed no abnormailties, just healthy breast tissue.

In January , however, I had a pmb, and felt super anxious an jittery, so went back down to 2 pumps from 3.   Meno doctor said I should go back up to 3 (this was just over 2 weeks ago), and now my breasts very lumpy.  the lumps feel large.

So, I am hoping that the chance of the lumpiness being anything bad is low, because its only 3 months since I had a clear scan.

If it is the increase in Oestrogel, is it worth trying for the middle ground of 2.5 pumps?

Also, I am continuous Utrogestan, so there is no phase as such.

Its a minefield isn't it?

Thanks again
