So up and down
« on: March 18, 2019, 06:39:45 AM »

Morning, im nearing the 3 month mark since starting hrt and am finding I'm pretty much all over the place. I get a few days when I'm doing good and I get hope that I've got this, then I start feeling awful again, the self doubt floods back and I'm back to feeling like I'm a thorn in everyone's side.

I'm pretty sure it's all my hormones as since I started hrt the really dark thoughts have made themselves scarce, and I have gone from not sleeping to falling asleep at the drop of a hat as I'm exhausted, but the vivid/scary dreams still persist and I'm so physically exhausted.

I guess I'm wondering if others had the same at the start of their hrt and does any improvement no matter how small show that it's working and the right thing for me?

I daftly didn't realise that something that took so long to go awry also takes a long time to balance back out and have found I don't want to let on to anyone that I'm still having rough days that I have to drag myself through. Sorry for the essay x

Morning.  The body rarely gets where it is suddenly unless due to surgical intervention.  Because hormones are up and down it can be difficult to find a comfortable balance by adding HRT.  I am sure that someone who has used HRT will be along .........  :bighug:

I have busy dreams: my brain picks up an item from the daily news, mixes it with people not thought of for years and takes off  >:(

Hi Countrygirl
I think it is different for everyone as soon as I started on patches the hot flushes & night sweats stopped straight away but sleeping, tiredness, forgetfulness/memory has never improved. Two months ago started 100mg everol hoping it would improve things a little but not yet, hey ho

Countrygirl.
I was on femseven patch s and by. By 3 months I hadn't had any improvements. But  by 4 months I had just started to see an improvement. So it took a  bit longer than the 3 months.  I had to swap as femseven went out of stock and I started on eastrogel.. Everyone is different but I had a realy bad experience with it from the outset And actually got worse and worse over the 3 months I was on it.. so
I switched to a new patch and noticed an improvement after 1-2 weeks which is well  below the 3 months.
There realy doesnt seem to be a magic number when it comes to this. I guess 3 months Is a guide but i havent fitted into that timeframe on any of the treatments.
The way I now look at it is if I see even a small improvement as with the femseven then it might  be worth persevering for a bit longer  but as with the eastrogel if it's not working at all and in fact still getting worse after 3 months then I gave it up and moved on to  try something else. With this new patch I have the option to increase from 75 to 100 so being as I have seen some improvement on it I reckon for me  it's worth then upping the dose andxsticking with it for a while.
Hope you see some more improvement and sorry you've been feeling so up and down.

Birdy I thought you were going to try to up the gel by half a pump?

Hi country girl.
Sorry to hear your struggle.
You've only been on it 3 months, so bear with it...it takes a bit of time for hormones to level out. Having said that, I still get times when I'm up n down! I'm like it now, but for the last 3 weeks or so, I've been on top of the world. It drives you crazy....and I've been on Femoston Conti for 12 months now....
Hopefully, you'll level out and stay levelled out....hang on in there honey......

 :thankyou:

Thank you for your kind words and advice ladies I really appreciate it as I'm trying so hard to keep my hope up. I hope better times are just around the corner for you all and less of the struggles and uncertainty x

Ive got a gynae appointment in a few weeks for my 3 monthly check up, I have been coping just, but the last few days I'm not, I've noticed my acne has got worse and I'm so tired but can't sleep and irritable, emotional and have chronic nausea/heaving just like I used to be before my periods were due when I was younger. My health anxiety is bad too, but I'm doing the put on a brave face if anyone asks how I am as I don't want to burden them x

Hello Countrygirl.

I just wanted to sympathise as I am also on a bit of a rollercoaster inspite of ( or perhaps because of ) HRT. I find that the emotional changes that occur throughout the day are exhausting in themselves and that's before I factor in the effects of disturbed sleep.

You are certainly not alone and even my trusty meno book says that mood swings from elation to despondency are common. You can say that again!

Take care and keep posting.
