if anxiety is still cyclical
« on: March 09, 2019, 10:28:10 AM »

Sorry if I waffle a lot it's just i need to put things down every so often and here I feel safe and able to, thank you x

Okay have been on the evorel 25 (with Mireya) since beginning of Jan, there have been some definite improvements, but the anxiety and going over and over things in my mind is definitely still cyclical.

Am due back to gynae next month for a check up, and I'm just wondering if it could be that the estrogen is too low a dose to lift my falling levels at certain times of the month when they bottom out and these symptoms rear their head.

I still wonder if the peri menopause was triggered by my undernourished body prior to losing my gallbladder last year and if I could get my gut problems resolved things may improve slightly too.

There are so many questions, but luckily I find quite a few answers on here with the help of so many of you and the biggest thing I've learnt is it's not all down to my previous MH issues and that believe me was a massive relief x

If you don't ask you don't get  ;)..  Morning!

How were you during your menstruating years?  I would sob.  The night B4 a bleed even if a period wasn't due.  That was the signal that the next morning, there would be blood  >:(  ::).  So I never went anywhere without protection  ::)

How are you throughout the month generally?  I don't think that gallbladder issues have influence on hormones.   :-\. >ducks<  :D

Lol CLKD no need to duck x

My anxiety has been linked closely to my periods most of my life, the week before if I wasn't passing out or throwing up I would be stuck indoors with fear, hence I was on the combined pill till I had my daughter at 33 but wouldn't let me take it again after and the mini one didn't help and things worsened heavy periods and a breakdown followed, mirena fitted for bleeds they stopped but week before the throwing up and anxiety would start but I coped with it.

I felt no cycle change at all for 6 months last year then all of a sudden my body started trying to have periods and that was when my mental health started to decline too and the hot flushes at night, soreness, dry eyes and the list went on and here I am x

Crikey that turned into a bit of an essay sorry 😳 x

Here you are.  >wave< - I felt really sick sometimes but was fortunately never sick.  Light headed.  Heavy clots with INTENSE pain.  Every month.  The Pill solved it until I was sterilised 11 years later due to depression.

HORMONES  >:(  ::). would you consider an anti-anxiety medication to take as necessary?  If it's cyclical, keeping a diary will give an idea as to when you might require it.

My anxiety and insomnia didn't improve much until I'd been on it for 3 months so it might be worth waiting a little longer. You are on a low dose (I started on Everel 50) so you may well be right the dose is too low. My anxiety wasn't cyclical but I hadn't had it before peri.

I thought the anxiety I lived my life with already was bad, but no this is worse as I know it's coming and I know I have to ride it out to get through it I just want that feeling of fear to just go and leave me in peace. Biggest instinct is still to want to run, but I'm too anxious to go out alone so I guess my mind is self managing itself.

I am shocked how many women like you sheila99 who have never had anxiety suffer with it around this age as my gp tries to tell me it's nothing to do with hormones whatsoever x

Yep CLKD, I did try that tact as I did suffer with that, but was told it's the lack of sleep and stress of a new baby all those years ago.

So I waited till I saw the gynae and he agreed hormones were the problem as it follows a cycle 2 fairly good weeks followed by the madness x

How is your diet over-all?  NAPS advised me to eat every 3 hours 24/7 ........ to avoid anxiety surges caused when the body is hungry.

Diet isn't great due to see dietician soon as unable to eat a lot of different foods.

The nightmares have hit again like they do each month and means I wake up feeling like I've not slept and on edge. These hormones are so hard to live with even though I know it's on a cycle and I'll come out the other side it doesn't make it any easier when I'm in the bad bit of it x

It doesn't make it easier because it's physical.  A psychologist asked me years ago: What do you think about B4 a panic attack happens? : well nowt, actually it arrives.  She insisted that I had to think first B4 the attack.  I walked out, never to return.  Obvious she had no idea  :bang:  That was after she had suggested that I 'recall how you feel on a good day' ........ yeah, right.  "If I could do that I wouldn't be sitting here!".  I gave her 1 more chance then walked!

I have busy dreams all the while ......... and had nightmares for years!
