Starting a new hrt
« on: April 01, 2019, 11:40:49 AM »

Hi folks
Just to let you know I was at hrt clinic this morning and the consultant has now put me onto everol patches 100mg plus Medroxyprogesteron Avetate 10mg using the pills for 12 days a month which will cause a bleed , really hate the thought of going back to bleeding each month after being post menopause for al it's 5 yrs but I'm willing to try anything if it help this awful menopause

Just wondering is there anyone else here who is using this combination and if so are you finding it helping ?

Hey Kaz, glad they got it sorted - well sorted a bit to start with.  As Stellajane said, at least you will be able to get the "measure" of you bodies reactions starting this way.

Just out of interest, how did you find it, were they nice and did they listen?  I found it good there but I was just wondering if they were making a habit of it  ;D

Hi
I don't mind a bleed at all as long as it. Makes me feel better than I do now il take a bleed ..
I'm waiting on a date for my operation (bladder bowel repair and full removal of womb and ovaries) so once I get that done il just be in the patch, the only thing I'm worrying about is going back onto everol as it was everol conti I had to stop because it stopped working after few months plus it made my head so fussy but I guess the everol patch will be different than the conti so fingers crossed it the one to help me , going through prei menopause I always felt better after my period arrived so hopefully il return to this way once in on the new hrt ..

Ladybt they were lovely in the clinic really nice and really helpful she even told me to join menopause matter as it was such a great help , told her I'd been using the site to help me already ..

I worked in the Mater for years so I knew a few of the staff nurses there today , left letter into GP this morning so hopefully I will get my prescription delivered by Wednesday and il soon get that patch on ..
I think the way it works is I use the patch all times and 12 days a month I also use the tablet and inside the 12 days of the pills I will have a bleed ..
Will just take me a while to let this get into system and I pray this helps me

Glad it was good Kaz.  Well you won't know until you try.  The only thing which got rid of my fuzzy head (and believe me I had it for years and years - about 20) was my testosterone gel but they don't give it out until our oestrogen is stable so if you get the fuzzys back maybe that is the cure?  It would probably be after your op too but I really hope you get on ok and start to feel  better.  Don't hope for miracles it can take a while to settle minimum 4 weeks, nearer 8 and conventional wisdom (whoever that is  :)) says probably 12.   Fingers crossed.

Ladybt
Last time when I went onto everol conti I felt it helping me around 3 weeks mark and it continued to improve for me but then it stopped working ? All old symptoms came back ..
The fuzzy head as in confused I can't handle but that feeling of going crazy going in my head is what I can't cope with , I feel as if my head will explode with madness

I will give anything a try at this point and as for a bleed each month I don't mind that at all as long as I know it won't last weeks on end as when they give me hrt pills in the past all 3 of them caused me heavy bleeding that lasted for up to 5 weeks at a time
But this one will controlled so praying it helps me

Provera (trade name) or medroxyprogesterone was what did that to me.  What progesterone were you on when you had the "head madness".  Different women react to different progesterones differently!  ::)  It's norethisterone that's in Everol Conti!

Ladybt
It was just before I stopped the everol conti I had the crazy feeling in my head as if I was going mental , plus like a constant humming in my head ..
The other hrt I've been given made me feel sick sore head diarrhoea plus bleeding heavy

I honestly don't know if this new mix will help me or not but I will give it a go , I've to use patch only for 4 weeks then add the medroxyprogesteron pill in for 12 days ,which them the bleed should appear..
just so fed up with this long running bloody menopause and trying to find the right hrt

Hi
Well that is the new everol 100 patch just stuck onto my hip now so fingers crossed I've no crazy feeling in my head from this !
I start the medroxyprogesteron tablet next month along dude the patch which will give me a bleed each month , I can cope with the bleed as long as I've no madnesses feeling in my head and praying the anxiety settles down some also
