Anyone out there also suffer from February right through to the summer with tree then grass etc allergies? Have suffered for years and each year just seems to get worse, take an anti histamine (non drowsy) every day, use itchy eye drops have tried various nasal sprays but while i'm sure they help a bit still feel groggy and just fed up with it all! Any tips appreciated.

Hi Stellajane, the GP told me to try different brand of eye drops/nasal spray each year which I do I tend to buy the cheapest ones as the lady in the chemist said the ingredients is the same in them all! Didn't know you can take more than one anti hist a day may have to this year. Have been told local honey is good but really dislike honey
I think there used to be an injection years ago that you could have but not heard anything about that. Oh well stock pile tissues time.

Definitely get ahead of the game. I usually start well before but the unseasonal weather the last couple of days has caught me out this year.

I used to enjoy it too but now it's too sweet even though I have a sweet tooth. Which is a shade as it has healing properties, internally and out.

I suffer badly from tree allergies. When we lived in Japan they have an eye drop for just this but here we do not. On moving back I tried different antihistamines and my restless leg syndrome was so bad and I didn't understand why. I looked up the info on antihistamines and found that they can make this worse so I knew I had to stop them. The pharmacist confirmed this and suggested a Sterimar spray for allergies which I can use frequently and eye drops for itchy eyes. Both of these do help a lot. Another trick before going outside is to rub petroleum jelly around your the end of your nose which helps to trap the pollens

I find I can smell willow from miles away though that doesn't trigger sneezing, house dust however does

I am trying to cope without the anti-histamines. They either didn't work or they dried my mouth up so I could feel it when I was trying to eat, and I seem to have gained salivary stones under my tongue.
I use the sterimar a lot, or a mix of 1pt boiled (warm not boiling
) water, 1tsp of salt and 1/2tsp of bicarb sucked up the nose via a tall thin glass as a nose wash before bed. And ibuprofen- I get through too much of that what with the 'period' pains

As a fellow allergy sufferer (anaphylaxis) I do sympathise, mine isn't an ongoing allergy, I do sometimes get hay fever, but it varies so much on severity and frequency, my allergies are more contact ones
Anyhow, I knew someone who said they used to get antihistamine shots from gp for severe hay fever etc, this may help you ladies ? X

Yes indeed suffering badly now, whole head stuffed, runny congested nose and wheezing chest...its miserable. The house behind us has a large oak tree and it has dropped literally piles of oak flower things in piles all over our back garden even over the car parked in the driveway...ugh.
Can't get any sleep either because of the congestion however I bought a neti pot and going to give that a try today...husband says its a sensation like waterboarding, lol Well I will try anything if it helps.
