HRT unavailable
« on: January 31, 2019, 04:53:52 PM »

I have been comfortable on Elleste Duet Conti for a few years now. As it is currently unavailable, I had to call my GP for an alternative and was prescribed Kliofem, which is also currently unavailable! The only other alternative, Nuvelle Continuous is (you've guessed it) also unavailable.

GP finally contacted the pharmacy attached to the surgery to find out what they DID have and we were able to get Kliovance, though I did have to point out to my GP that this was half the dose of the Elleste I currently take so he has agreed I can take two a day. (I shouldn't have had to point this out, but my GP nags me every 6 months to stop HRT anyway, and at this point I was just grateful to get some HRT after spending all day trying to sort it out.)

Now, I live in a small town, only three pharmacies, but I rang round all the others that were within sensible driving distance and nobody seems to have any of the three preparations that I could take. I see the GP at the end of February again and would like to think I can go back to my normal prescription.

Has anybody any idea what is going on? None of the pharmacists I spoke to seemed to know.

BREXIT ?  or the NHS not paying the Manufacturers but the Pharmacises in Europe will so drugs go there first.

You could try contacting the manufacturers and ask them when they will be available x

Where are you CGbird. I'm just about to order a repeat prescription for elleste duet conti. Is this a widespread issue? I'm now worrying as like you I've been on it for a few years and it really suits me.

My Lloyds Pharmacy didn't have my Estradot 100. Told me who they get it from didn't have it so they had to order it through a third party whatever that means. Took overv a week to get it 😔

Hi.  I too am on Elleste Duet Conti.  Went to pharmacy to pick up repeat prescription yesterday.  Pharmacy told me that there were production issues so there was nothing available and to contact GP.  Rang prescribing team at GP today and was told that new supplies will be in nominated pharmacy tomorrow and to go back.

Fingers crossed I am not on a wild goose chase.

Maybe try an online pharmacy, they may have them. They appear to be becoming more popular.

Hi.  As instructed by GP, went back to chemist today as GPi informed chemist should have supplies today of Elleste Duet Conti.  Bet you can guess what happened.  Chemist said they have no supplies and do not hope to get any for a while and to call GP and they cant understand why GP told me to come back. :bang:

30 mins of my life I wont get back.

Really feel for you. I was on tibolone (not now) and had problems getting it about a year ago. No one seemed to know why and it was left to me to track some down at different pharmacists. Not having a car I was ringing round and eventually got some, but it's really stressful. The young woman at Boots casually said there would be alternatives I could take, but it's not so good when you are used to something .

Hi all

Finally sourced some Elleste. Had to ring round the local chemists.  Went to pick it up and pharmasist said thats probably the last box ever.  Yikes.  Anyway, sorted for 3 months now. ;D
