Lump in my throat
« on: February 27, 2019, 11:01:14 PM »

I've had what I thought was an ulcer on the back of my throat for upwards of 9 months

The dentist noticed it last Oct and re-noticed it this week - he's an older guy and said it was ear/nose & throat and I should see the GP as he didn't think he'd seen anything like that before!

My daughter said that was typical of me

Saw the GP - she hasn't seen anything like that before either but doesn't think it needs to be seen under the 2 week wait

So they will do nothing - I have a lump, unidentified, and as they haven't seen one before they will do nothing

Reassuring that huh?

She thinks it's basically a zit - a blocked gland and referred me to an ENT

But my confidence in her is not overflowing...after our menopause/hrt chat  :(

If it hasn't changed in the 9 months it's another indication it isn't sinister. Try not to worry, I'm sure the dentist would have told you to get it checked the first time he saw it if it might be cancerous. Cows can get something similar if they've eaten a thistle and been ****led - though I'm sure you haven't been eating thistles!

Dentists are trained to see sinister changes in the mouth.

I have a lump in that I'm clearing my throat all the while ......... DH told me I must see the GP but I can't be bothered  ::)

Ulcers.  I had a lot years ago and 'bonjela' cured them; the one on the roof of my mouth is caused by constant tongue rubbing and is also solved with 'bonjela'.

We both had a cold from October.  The end result is the cough  ::)

How's the ulcer this morning? Is it sore?
