Hi all,

Bit of background.....
I had a bilateral oophorectomy in 2014 (kept my uterus) and haven't been able to take hrt due to my intolerance to progesterone.

I have done my research and have read about an alternative pill called duavee.  It has premarin and another chemical that helps keep the uterine lining down...

I went to my GP this morning and ended up crying because I couldn't make myself understood, she was suggesting a Mirena coil, which I explained was removed during my operation, then she was talking about endometrial cancer risks and I told her about my mums history and she asked how fast was the cancer growing, I again told her that my mum had passed away 😔
Anyway long story short, even though I had list of alternative meds for her, she said she would have to speak to the other doctors in the practice and the gynae team before she could make a decision, just feel so frustrated! Any advice would be greatly appreciated please?

Perhaps ask for a referral to a menopause clinic, they should be able to help you if the gp won't . Did they say you couldn't use mirena again?

Maybe send an e-mail to the Surgery asking for the discharge letter from 2014 to be brought on the screen to see if there is a mention of not using the Mirena in the future.  Did it suit you at the time?

Make a double appt., preferably at the end of the day.

Make a list of the symptoms you would like to ease first.  It's OK for a GP to make queries, in the mean time have a look-see at the various menopause clinics in your area: don't go to a Gynea as they often don't know much more than GPs

Thank you Sheila99, she did suggest the mirena coil but I didn't get on well with that either, so it was removed during my operation.
I will ask about a referral though..

I recently went to my gp as I just feel like I am losing control and wanted some advise and I think I wanted confirmation of peri menopause and that I am not going crazy. I told my gp about increase anxiety which is out of character, increased sleep difficulties and flushes. She asked my job and o knew them what was coming ..she said I am stressed. I cried as that is not the problem and she sent me off to come back in 2 weeks. She took no blood pressure tests or blood tests. She did comment in what I took as criticism that I missed Mirena coil appointment. I have large fibroid and I asked her then to look at my notes as I actually had 3 appointment for attempt at coil but dr or nurses could do it due to place of fibroid they had to give up. I am trying not to be critical so would appreciate opinion on my experience at gp ...
