CLKD Try not to think about it to much and go with the flow I know easier said than done.

Lanzarote In June but I'm sure you had probably guessed at least it should be warmer 😎

Holidays must seem really cheap if you're on London wages, whereas if you're on 'normal' wages they're ridiculously expensive and on minimum wage out of the question. Off topic but how the hell do people manage on minimum wage down there?

I'd never thought about this before but my nephew who's working in London just mentioned it - guess he'll be taking lots of holidays now!

No they don't seem cheap because the cost of living is higher. My salary is pretty median for London. I don't say average/mean  because the average is artificially high due to high salaries at the top. If I hadn't bought a flat when I did, I would still be a lodger in someone's house. A month's rent for a 1 bedroom or studio flat would use up about 70% of my take home pay before council tax and gas/electricity etc.  I increase my available money by letting out a spare room to a lodger. That covers home maintenance/improvement projects.

People commute from where I live into London: getting up at 5.30, leaving the house by 6.15 to drive to the station ...... reverse at 6.30 p.m.  :-\ some have to travel across London towards Surrey for their work .........

No holidays yet ..........

So its work in London but commute from oop North then? The mere thought drains one's energy. Only for the young!

That does look like a fun trip katejo - enjoy.
I wouldn't want to commute from any distance. I did commute from Kent for a very short period of a few weeks when I first started my proper job but that was late 80's. Since then I have had various temp addresses as a lodger before I bought my own flat in the early 90's  and later a house.

Yes the trip looks pretty good.
