Femseven conti shortage
« on: August 24, 2018, 07:31:09 AM »

I'm finding femseven conti really hard to get hold of. I was feeling very settled on it but then next time I took my prescription they didn't know when they'd be able to get any. A supplier problem everywhere apparently... Consequently to make sure I wasn't without HRT, it was suggested I get the Dr to change it to Everol Conti. Now I know I don't like this one so much as I've been on it before. But I needed something so I had to switch. Now at end of 2nd week and feeling horrible. Since switching ive been bleeding, had very sore boobs and nausea/tiredness. Only saving grace is that sweats, flushes and anxiety have stayed away. It's really not fair that we have to go through this due to manufacture or supply problems. Anyone else had the same problem with symptoms after switching or supply problem? I don't know what to do as I start a new job in s few weeks and need to be on top of things! :-*

Sorry to hear this GillyA. It seems to happen frequently that there are supply problems with one HRT type or another and it's very frustrating. If you would rather stick (!) with the same type do they have Femseven sequi? You would get a withdrawal bleed or else you could just use the combi patches in the pack (slightly higher progestogen dose) all the time?

Hi GillyA
I'm on Angeliq and last time I went to renew my prescription the pharmacist said they had none in and there was a problem with the manufacturer, they said they'd phone me if they could get it, cue major panic from me ::)I emailed the manufacturer and was told there were no problems at all! Pharmacist texted about a week later to say they'd got it so all good. As this was Boots I think they just called other branches and found one that had it.
Three strips of the tablets out of six had a short expiry date so they'd probably got them from 2 different branches.
You could contact the manufacturer yourself for confirmation, google will find you the contact information if it's not on the box.
Also try all the chemists in your area some might have older stock.
Good luck, it's so frustrating having to change HRT especially if you were doing well on it.

Hi Gilly,
I have had to go on to Evorel Conti too and was told by various pharmacies that there will be no Femseven Conti until at least January!! So far, I have had no adverse effects from the new patches and I am finding that they stick better than the Femseven. I seem to remember that someone posted about having had problems with Femseven Sequi too so you may have no choice in sticking with Evorel. Hope your side effects settle down.

I've used this patch for over three years so far and was disappointed this week to find it was out of stock everywhere I usually obtain it. I've emailed the suppliers ( Teva) and am awaiting their reply.
This morning however, I decided to try a tiny Boots branch in a small country town not far from where I live and they've given me what looks to be the French version of FemSeven Conti. The pack is still manufactured by Teva, called Femsept Evo and there are instructions printed in English inside the box and stickers over the original print on the outside.
Hope they stick the same, I can't see why they wouldn't.
It may be worth ringing around a few more pharmacies that you wouldn't normally use just to see if they have a few in stock. These I got today were the last they had in my immediate area so I hope it's not too long before they're back and available as normal.

Linz are you still able to get your Femseven Conti, I have had problems now for last 12mths, my prescription is due Friday, but called into lots of out of Town Pharmacies last week was told no stock and no news from suppliers, called in my local Pharmacy today to ask if they had Femseven in stock yet, and after a phone call to Teva my pharmacist was told, they are no longer being made and to speak to my GP about a replacement, having done research again, it seems my only option is Evorel, but used these years ago, and had sickness plus dreadful headaches with them..

I have not heard of Femsept Evo, and wonder if anyone else has manged to get this version and been okay with them..xx

I've been told by the manufacturer that the Fem Seven Conti will only be available December 2019, I'm so unhappy as I got on really well with it and so far I'm on my second different type to try and find a replacement :(

I'm having the same problem getting Femseven Conti patches. Six months ago I managed to find some in a local chemist after ringing everywhere and only have 3 patches left.  I contacted Teva this morning who said this was now with Thermamex Tel: 0333 0096795. I rang Thermamex and they still cannot give a date. I've been to GP this morning who as put me back on Femiston Conti tablets for 3 months and then review hoping that the Femseven patches may be available as he said the patches are a safer option due to my age. I also had Evorel patches previously and I didn't like them.

Flossy I am so angry that we have to put up with this from manufacturers, I have made calls to 13 pharmacies today no one has stock, three told me the company had received complaints that patches were not adhering to skin, not had this problem myself, in fact I have to peel mine off ! also they cannot get a date of when new supplies will be available :'(

May have to try Everol and hope they work this time to stop hot sweats, and take pain killers for headaches, which I had years ago using this patch, or maybe they will just work, also ladies on here giving me advice on Estrogen only patches and prog tabs used in vagina..really don't know which way to go, just in panic now..

Hope the tabs work for you, due to my age I felt happier using a patch rather than a pill..xx
