Bleeding on continous hrt
« on: November 26, 2018, 12:13:27 PM »

Hi Ladies,

I'm here again .... Initially was on Femeston 2/10 mg for a few years but got fed up of having the monthly withdrawal bleed, I'm 56 yrs old and really would prefer not to have a bleed. So went back to the doctor with all the info I had gained on here, as there is no Femeston type for 2mg/5, the doctor but me on Femeston conti 1mg/1.5 mg and to supplement the estrogen on Elleste Solo 1mg.  I thought I had struck lucky with the combination but I had a bleed on it, so I went to another Doctor with the view to having the Mirena coil inserted and she suggested putting me on Kliogest (Kliofem is similar) which is a continuous HRT but low & behold after over a month I have been bleeding for over 10 days and no stopping it.   What do I do???

Hi Stellajane,

Many thanks for your reply.  I've stopped taking the Kliogest about 4 days now and still bleeding, I'm wondering if it will stop at all.  I'd opt for going back on Femeston Conti 1/5mg if I thought I'd get no bleed.  Do you think I would have enough estrogen of 1mg as opposed to 2 mg which I had previously?

Hi Ladyunlaoised

Did you end up trying the Femoston conti without the extra oestrogen? How did you go?

The other thing is, even with a conti regime some bleeding is considered quite normal for up to 6 months. If you were feeling quite well on it with the extra oestrogen otherwise, why not continue and see if the bleeding settles?

Hi there like you was on femoston conti 2/10 sequi, as I got on so well with it my meno specialist suggested femoston conti 1/5 x2 daily to keep my dose the same it works well for me. maybe see if gp will do this if 1/5 is not enough.

HI Ladies,

I bit the bullet and had a Mirena inserted last week & my GP prescribed Fematab 2mg  (Estrogen only) to supplement it.  Procedure went well, bleeding stopped nearly the next day But I'm now having spotting since yesterday, I'm presuming this can happen with reading other posts on here.  Hopefully spotting will stop in time.
